Well it`s Zucc decision and his agent and not Dallas @keith hernandez - if they want to explore the open market he will go for it just like Panarin as UFA. Besides I doubt Dallas will sign him for a 2020 1st it cost too much.

Yes I agree Rangers should not go after high profile UFA signings this summer - our defense prospects need to develop without rushing them into NHL from the 2018 draft.
True enough definitely not my decision. I guess that my hope is that zucc is unbelievable in Dallas and that they have no choice but to overpay him. Always one of my favorites.

Absolutely they're not there on the back end but they're a couple of intriguing pieces

Yes it might happen - Zucc is a loyal person so he was quite happy with his new team, but a bit unfortunate with his injury. If Jim Nill like what he see in Zucc he might as well do it to really go for it next year.

Anyway back to Kakko topic - I can certainly see high upsides which get me really excited. I just hope coach Quinn use him properly to get most out of this player I wish it was October already! ;)

I can't wait for Zuccarello to retire so I don't have to see the endless stream of shit proposals of how we re-acquire him.

But I guess after he retires his name will be dropped for each position that ever opens up in the organization. Some fans would replace Quenneville with a former Ranger as head coach if they were the GM / owner

All I want is a first for him to cement his legacy. Maybe two.

Rangers off to a slow start. Should they bring Zucarello out of retirement?

It`s wrong topic @Amazing Kreiderman , but I don`t understand what he did to you in the last 4-5 years. Lias has done absoultely nothing for this Franchise concerning his hype level and draft position. So if he is gone I could care less and they have a future draft pick in #2020-21.

Kakko - Zib - Buch
Kreider - Chytil - Kratsov
Nam - Brassard - Zucc
Nieves - Lias - Fast

Move Vesey in the summer with Smith.

I will tell u right now that is much deeper than both Dallas & Nashville in top 9. ;)

*It will not happen though, because Quinn would use Zucc as usual in top 6 and we need to give younger prospects good roles. :)

Forget about Zucc. You are just setting yourself up for a disappointment.

What he has done in the last 5 years is irrelevant to today's situation. Re-signing him does not fit our rebuild. It's that simple. It has nothing to do with what Zuccarello has done, because he has been one of the best players under the current CBA (Since 2012). And I like Zuccarello a lot. I just do not want us to sign him this summer. It makes no sense from a rebuilding perspective, and the better scenario is obviously for him to sign with Dallas and get us a 1st round pick in 2020

Yes I agree with that reasoning. We can talk about this in private messages Steven if you like. My point is I respect old players who have done something for a soccer club or a hockey Franchise, and I don`t envy new drafted prospects coming to New York of all NHL teams. Because of media here and all the pressure involved at early stage of their development curve. I said in another topic and still like Lias as a player, but it won`t be easier for him next season especially not for a coach like Quinn.

Can always get that 1st round from Tampa if they do lose this series and are out, but some people here are not going to like how we get it. Lol.

Taking on Callahan's contract for just one season. I would do it. Tampa needs to shed the contract. He is their 13th forward and his cap hit is $5.8M. The Rangers have the room.

Lundqvist has taken a lot of heat over the last 3-4 seasons and some of it is earned, a lot isn't. But it really goes to show how spoiled as fans we've been with goaltending since he's been in the league along with guys like Talbot/Raanta/Georgiev, and even going back to Weekes/Vally/Biron playing well enough in limited tenure. Winnipeg and San Jose have young goalies who have regressed and have massive massive term/cap hit.

When Callahan was traded, people were furious. How can you trade a player who gives everything for the team an just move on like that?

When McDonagh was traded, people were furious. How can you trade a player who gives everything for the team an just move on like that?

Now Zucccarello was traded, people were furious. How can you trade a player who gives everything for the team an just move on like that?

Want to know the alternative? Look at Marc Staal and Dan Girardi. They were rewarded for their years of dedication to this franchise. What did it bring us?

I believe many were sad about it when those players were moved, but it`s what it is with our current rebuild direction. Yes that is a culture definition too and will players get rewarded long term? I understand why G. Sather signed those players at the time, but if we end up like Buffalo loop with 8-10 years rebuild plan in mind.. Well our top prospects want out instead and a new Franchise so that is not an ideal situation either so it`s a fine balance.

And who will sign Jeff Skinner now he is UFA in 2019-20 do you think he is interested to stay in Buffalo?

Anyway soon Jack Hughes in action in just 3 days for US U18 team - any know if it will be on TV? :)

Jari Kurri is 3rd all time, Glenn Anderson is 4th all time. Are they also generational? Or was it just that they played on the best team ever for a decade?

I was specifically addressing "Messier wasn't even a consistent post-season all-star. Get out of here." which is why I quoted it. Wasn't making a case based on playoff stats.

1st hand option of course is to get that extra 1st from Dallas. But if he chose not to resign with them, signing him here for 2 years at something like 4 AAV would make sense imo. At that cap hit he can play anywhere in the top 9 while putting up 50 points and providing veteran presence and leadership. Worst case we can trade him at the deadline and get some extra assets.
