All Franchise players, not generational(not completely sold on EK either being there, though obviously a superstar). 99, 66, 87, 39, are Generational.

Stars, Superstars, Franchise, Generational.

There is no category GOAT. And if there is, there is one player, 99.

I'd easily put Bobby Orr with 99 in that last category

If Tampa wasn't going to win it, I rather they get embarrassed like this, instead of it being painful losing like game 7 of the final.

Well, there's also the fact that the pick will be its highest if they go out early. I'd much rather have the first, but better to get a few spots higher in the 2nd than have them lose Game 7 in the finals and we get the second to last pick of the round.

Taking on Callahan's contract for just one season. I would do it. Tampa needs to shed the contract. He is their 13th forward and his cap hit is $5.8M. The Rangers have the room.
It needs to be more than just moving up 30 spots. Make it the 1st in addition to the 2nd we have. There are too many opportunities to take on a good player with a contract dump this summer. A bunch of teams trying to fit in RFAs.

TB just needs to avoid getting swept. They go back home down 3-1. They can’t lose every home playoff game. 3-2 going back to Columbus. All of the pressure is on Columbus. They were up 3-0 and now it’s 3-2 with game 7 back in TB.

It’s tough to close out a team. Columbus has never been in this position before and they are now expected to win series.

To take on Callahan's contract I think I'd want a little more than just upgrading of the 2nd to the 1st. Along with the upgrade maybe they could throw in a player like Adam Erne or send us their 3rd---something like that. We'll send them back Dawson Leedahl. Maybe they can get him going.

I mean their cap problems are their cap problems. If they don't have the money for Vasilevskiy--it's sad but it's also too bad. They don't have a second to deal this year so they can dip into next year's draft picks if they don't want to deal with us and don't want to give up a 1st for someone else to take on Callahan's contract. Our having their 2nd gives us a bit of leverage AFAIC and when you have leverage you use it.

It's possible but my best guess is Tampa is going to get steamrollered.

Trade 22-58 in a package deal for top 15?

Go easy on me :help:

In most cases I find the trade down range is about 3-5 picks, depending on where the pick is and what the offer is.

If we’re talking about moving a late second, I think we’d probably be looking at 3, maybe four slots — so I don’t think 15 is doable with just those components. You might be able to get to 18 or 19.

Is is worth it? What kind of player is there to be had sub 20?

When Callahan was traded, people were furious. How can you trade a player who gives everything for the team an just move on like that?

When McDonagh was traded, people were furious. How can you trade a player who gives everything for the team an just move on like that?

Now Zucccarello was traded, people were furious. How can you trade a player who gives everything for the team an just move on like that?

Want to know the alternative? Look at Marc Staal and Dan Girardi. They were rewarded for their years of dedication to this franchise. What did it bring us?

Wait til we trade Kreider.

I'm shocked... I figured Tampa would roll through the finals easily. What's going on? geez

Yes I agree with that reasoning. We can talk about this in private messages Steven if you like. My point is I respect old players who have done something for a soccer club or a hockey Franchise, and I don`t envy new drafted prospects coming to New York of all NHL teams. Because of media here and all the pressure involved at early stage of their development curve. I said in another topic and still like Lias as a player, but it won`t be easier for him next season especially not for a coach like Quinn.

I respect your opinion about being loyal to players but bringing Zucc back doesn't achieve much. In fact it probably takes a spot from a young player. Say we get Kakko. I'd like to see guys like Chytil, Lias, Krava and Kakko play big roles. Those 4 with Ziba, Kreider, Howden, Strome and Buch need to play in top-9. That's 9 right there. Whoever we pick with Jets pick could be close to NHL ready.

Also not sure why Zucc would want to come here because we won't be contending any time soon.
