So Buffalo probably ends up with Cozens or Byram and we end up with Turcotte or Zegras. Why complain? The Rangers are still trying. The Sabres who for at least half the year looked like they were really going places--as soon as they get some adversity just rolled over and died. Seriously--if you're Eichel or Dahlin you've got to be thinking--'am I in hockey's version of Siberia just wasting my time?--and is this even a good place to play? How long is this going to go on?' And the Pergula's don't have a clue if they're not going to hold the management and coaching staffs accountable for a team laying down like this because I don't know about others but I think it's embarassing to have all that talent and to collapse like that.

The more I think about it, the more I truly believe that after a certain threshold, they should start taking ping-pong balls away from teams or drop them one spot from the final position for every season they go over a threshold.

At some point you look at these teams and you realize that they've essentially been handed half-a-dozen or even a dozen prime opportunities and they still can't get their crap together.

Literally there are some teams out there that would probably do no worse if they fired their entire scouting department and just went off an aggregated ranking of prospects from outside observers. That's pitiful.

You want to provide an incentive for teams to get better? Stop taking away the safety net.

I agree but I think you mean 'start' not 'stop'.

Oilers lose their third in a row. Still only two points ahead of us. Can't even get rid of these guys. Last year it took to the very day and a shootout for them to pass us.

Who can forget Tank-watch 2018? We were going crazy in that thread.

Ironically, aside from Edmonton, Carolina also finished ahead of us in the standings and then got the magic bump up to grab Svechnikov. We were all dying to win the lottery to get into the top 2. We have no luck. If we had won a few more games and were in Carolina's slot, I have no doubt we wouldn't have won the move up to 2.

The Rangers will need 3 more points in the final 3 games as compared to Edmonton if they want to surpass them. Not just 3 points, but 3 points MORE than Edmonton.
So if Edmonton gets 0 points in 3 games, they need 3 points.
If Edmonton gets 1 point in 3 games, the Rangers need 4 points in 3 games.
If Edmonton gets 2 points, the Rangers need 5 points in 3 games.
And last but not least, if Edmonton gets 3 points, the Rangers need to win out (get 6 points in 3 games).

Let's hope Edmonton gets a couple of points pretty soon and we can all take a deep breath

Edmonton plays:
Colorado tonight
Sharks Thursday
Flames Saturday

For Anaheim:
The Rangers need 2 more points in their final 3 games than Anaheim in their final 2 games.
So if Anaheim gets 1 points in their last couple of games, the Rangers will need 3 points in their final 3 games.
If Anaheim gets 2 points in their last couple of games, the Rangers will need 4 points in their final 3 games.
If Anaheim gets 3 points in their last couple of games, the Rangers will need 5 points in their final 3 games.
If Anaheim gets 4 points in their last couple of games, the Rangers will need 6 points in their final 3 games.

Anaheim plays:
Calgary Wednsday
LA on Friday

Likewise for teas chasing the Rangers:

For Buffalo
The Sabres need 3 more points in their final 3 games than the Rangers get in their final 3 games:
So if the Rangers get 0 points, the Sabres need 3 points
If the Rangers get 1 point, the Sabres need 4 points
If the Rangers get 2 points, the Sabres need 5 points
If the Rangers get 3 points, the Sabres need to win out

Buffalo plays:
Nashville tonight
Ottawa Thursday
Detroit Saturday

For Detroit, same thing as Buffalo above

Detroit plays:
Pittsburgh tonight
Pittsburgh Thursday
Buffalo Saturday

The Rangers remaining schedule is as follows:
Sens Wednesday
Columbus Friday
Pittsburgh Saturday

Zuccarello found a new friend. He makes an appearance at the end. Radulov and Zuccarello went to the Sixers-Mavs game last night.

Zuccarello is supposed to play on Friday or Saturday. Not much time to get his timing back.

Bishop will be back too.

Yes, in the ideal world, NYR get 0 pts in the remaining games and both DET/BUF get 3 pts each, and one is guaranteed 2 pts b/c they play each other as their final game.

That would put NYR at 4th worst overall, the lowest they can get.

Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon is going to lose $70 million on the Alliance of American football shutting down. Damn.

He also said they're going to try to trade Adam Fox.

He better hope his jerks make the playoffs. They don't have any more margin for error.

excited!!! GO STARS GO!!! We should all become huge Stars fan for many reasons this playoff season. Gets us another first, if they do well most likely Zucc does well which is nice and I would imagine gives them more impetus to sign him

Columbus, Carolina, and Montreal fighting for the last two spots in the East and get Boston, Toronto, and Tampa respectively tonight.

Colorado and Arizona fighting for one spot, get Edmonton and Los Angeles respectively tonight.

Incredibly balanced opponent's for these races tonight. I'll be doing some channel surfing for sure.

Duclair has the most points of any player traded after February 22nd with 13 in 17 games. Hayes is 2nd with 12 (tied with Duclair's teammate Brian Gibbons lol).

Good to see Columbus getting their asses kicked, they'll be hungry to win on friday.
