The games played figure for starting goalies around the league is ridiculously low this year... only a handful of guys are going to hit 60 games.

Is that a fluke? Or is this the new normal?

Man, I remember when Hank and Kiprusoff were putting 70+ games a year.

Edit: Damn, Kipr was something else. 70+ games 7 straight years.

A lot of teams have been through a ton of goalies. Philly has started like what 7 goalies this year? Arizona has started at least 4-5, LA has started like 4 of them, Anaheim 3...

Rangers are one of the few teams that have run 2 goalies almost exclusively and nearly split the starts between them

Swear I had no idea Jeff Skinner was a UFA too. Wow.

They've been worse than Tampa has been good. That's insane. What is this, year 6 of the rebuild?
All that ELiTe TaLeNt t will surely turn things around. You just wait.

If the Jets lose and Blues win, Preds/Jets/Blues will be tied in points with same amount of games played (79). Jets have 43 ROW, Blues would have 42 and Preds 40.

Crazy. I hate the Preds for getting crushed their last two games vs the Jets. Would have pretty much guaranteed them the division. The Blues could beat either of the Jets or Preds right now

But not the Rangers!:D

Without those two recent character building wins the rongos would be 1pt away from having the 3rd best lottery odds

Rangers can still end up 3rd worst.

NYR obviously need to lose final three in reg.

LAK needs to win out in any fashion, would put them at 75 pts and have ROW tiebreaker.

DET/BUF each need 3 pts in final games any fashion, as both hold ROW tiebreaker.

NJD and OTT cannot catch NYR in points.

You guys are so optimistic. Let's just pray for the 6th overall. Forget about LAK and Buffalo. Actually let them drop below the devils. Had the Rangers won tonight I have no doubt they could have been in the 8th or 9th slot when all is said and done. Thank goodness they lost in regulation

Let's hope the Oilers can grab at least a point tonight. On paper their schedule isn't easy for their final 3

Oilers lose their third in a row. Still only two points ahead of us. Can't even get rid of these guys. Last year it took to the very day and a shootout for them to pass us.

Kevin Hayes straight up screwing us tonight.

??? Chicago is pretty far ahead of us. I feel like Georgiev and Quinn are having a better hand in screwing us than anyone else.

8 with Cam Talbot this year (NHL record)

was more worried about Winnipeg winning and keeping division lead.

And DET/BUF actually play each other... so that's at least 2 points going to one team (with any luck they are acquired in overtime).

The more I think about it, the more I truly believe that after a certain threshold, they should start taking ping-pong balls away from teams or drop them one spot from the final position for every season they go over a threshold.

At some point you look at these teams and you realize that they've essentially been handed half-a-dozen or even a dozen prime opportunities and they still can't get their crap together.

Literally there are some teams out there that would probably do no worse if they fired their entire scouting department and just went off an aggregated ranking of prospects from outside observers. That's pitiful.

You want to provide an incentive for teams to get better? Start taking away the safety net.
