Wow, nice selective stats there. Let's ignore the 13 assists he had in that same timespan for a guy that's considered more of a playmaker than a goal scorer. 16 points in 19 games. Yeah, that's what I call "disappearing". Come on.

Furthermore, he's playing against a vastly superior team (TB) that's keying on HIM. Tampa can spread that around. Columbus really can't and he got a primary assist anyway.

Truth is, his playoff resume is pretty limited and I don't think it'll be vastly expanded this year. 18 playoff games, 12 points. Not enough of a sample size to call him Rick Nash 2.0

I like him as a player, but believe me, the contract he's going to get is scary. Not sure I'd do it.

I would totally debate taking him over Matthews. He just seems like more of big time hockey player in big spots. He made Rask look like he he was a rookie that just got called up to play goalie for the Bruins.

I’d take him and Point to start a team. Most underrated guys in the league.

19 Games, 3 G 13 A 16 points. Make it 20 and he's 4G 14A for 18 points.

And, if you really want to talk "crunch time", when the Jackets season was on the line and they were fighting Montreal and Carolina for the last three spots in the final few weeks of the season, Panarin just had a measly 3 Goals and 8 assists in his last 8 games when it really, really mattered.

I mean, I get the trepidation with whatever contract he's going to get. It's completely warranted. But labeling him as a guy that disappears when it matters simply isn't accurate.
