Your reading comprehension is very poor. What I said is I believe that he believes he will be that guy in the future and is looking to prove himself to be.
"Willing to bet he believes he will make double that.".....seems pretty clear to me.

Do you think a goalie is going to put up good stats for this team? They are bad now defensively and got worse defensively with this trade like or not.

Seth jones was very lazy defensively here overall. He gave an inconsistent effort for years, often letting his goalies face high danger shots due to his indecision or apprehension or just lack of effort. I haven’t seen much of a difference here when he was out last year or this year in our team defense.

Soderblom is putting up solid stats this year and I believe Knight has greater potential. I don’t see why he can’t put up good numbers here. He obviously doesn’t need to be a lead leader in stats to get recognized for his play. So I’m not sure it matters.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see our team defense improve next year as well, with players maturing and an offseason to add help.

I totally get the frustration with Jones - a lot had to do with his insane contract and not living up to those expectations but Jones is better than the AHL dman they are calling up to replace him.

Soderblom is having a bounce back year and will be a RFA...wondering what type of contract they will offer if any.....should be interesting.

I’m sure he is a better player by far than whoever will replace him for the rest of this year, but I’m not sure his actual on ice defensive performance would have been better due to his compete overall, his lack of effort defensively, and his poor hockey IQ.

Anyway, what’s knight going to get a dozen games here this year?

Going to have to reevaluate the defensive personnel and the coach, after the off season.

I know we should probably see what we have in Knight but what would a team like Edmonton give up for him?

I mean... Isn't there a chance that Knight could become the future #1 guy?

No guarantees with Commesso or Gajan.

But god knows what the team will do with him (Knight).

Jones didnt want to be here and made damn sure everyone knew it!! You dont want that in your team so better to let him go. Sure our prospects arent ready yet but some are pretty damn close and only way to find out is to give them icetime. Also Hawks got really good return on that trade so well worth the trade.

What comes to Knight, do you really think goalies want to be backup for their whole career. This is his chance to claim starter position and show what he is capable of. Sure the team isnt great but still he has chance to play a lot!! Also Hawks are seeing prospects come up so we are not going to be bottom feeder for eternity. Hopefully Knight can make good on his potential and help Hawks get better.

Knight
Soderblom

Just need some hits in Lardis, Moore, Boisvert, Vanecker, Kanteserov and continue drafting some high end pieces in the top 5 this year and next year.

A couple of big UFA signings, ideally a good line driving top 6 W/C and a solid vet RD to pair with Korchinski

No guarantees in Knight either or any goalie for that matter....I guess it gives them another young goalie so your odds increase of finding a good one. Then again, playing in Chicago or Rockford for a goalie right now can't be easy.

Reality check - the Hawks are borderline the worst team in the NHL...fast forward 8 months and like it or not they are still going to be one of the worst teams in the NHL....fast forwards...20 months and they will still be one of the worst teams in the NHL...they are 3-4 years away from moving up significantly. IMO.

I think Knight had a fantastic situation in Florida and was probably pretty darn happy winning Stanley cups, playing in front of a great team and making starter money.

Try to play offer sheet this year (Knies, McTavish, JJpeterka, Zary, Samoskevich, Voronkov, Cuylle, Bourque, Rossi, Coronato, Jack Quinn, Vilardi...)

Sure Hawks are a bad team now but they will get better. Do you remember how Hawks were in ABC-line time frame... Yeah not that good ;)

Knight is a professional athlete do you think he got to NHL by thinking he will be eating popcorn and cashing paycheck for his trouble!? Do you really think he wants to be second fiddle to starter!? He already got his Cup with Panthers doing that!! I bet you not a single athlete that made it to the show thought maybe I just take it easy... SMH

The offersheet game (which has historically had a very low success rate of players actually changing teams) is about to get less likely with every team getting an extra 8 million in cap this Summer. The Hawks certainly will not exceed the offersheet level that results in a 1st round pick as compensation (hard to imagine their '26 pick not being in the top 10 or honestly top 5 in the McKenna draft year to boot) which will be around 5 million. Which guy on your list does the current team not match the 5 million offer for...again knowing the cap goes up 8 million so they will havve the room?

I'm pretty sure if the Hawks get Florida's 2026 1st round pick, they can use that as compensation over their own no?

Alright man...we get it - he was in great situation and now he's not.

Now what?

Yeah, it probably sucks to some extent that he's moved away from Florida. But he's also had massive struggles with OCD that have actually required help from the Players Assistance program. You know what sucks for a goaltender who has OCD? Being in your first full season in the NHL, playing for a contender, and knowing that a single bad goal or game can effect your standings and chances at winning another cup, let alone potentially playing in a big playoff game if something happens to Bob. Hell, it's stressful for any goalie to be in that position.

Here, though, he can grow his game without worrying about getting blamed for a bad performance. Without being a whipping boy for the fanbase. He can play with guys closer to his age. And he can potentially be a starter in this league next year here, something that might not have been possible with Bob in his way on the Panthers.

Not to mention a lot can happen in a few years in this league. Florida won't stop being a playoff team anytime soon, but by the time he'd be taking over that starter role down there, who is to say they'd be perennial contenders? Ekblad has gotten worse each season and is likely not getting re-signed. Forsling has been awesome for them, but how long is his prime? If Jones is the 2nd best defenseman there, or worse for them their best, how much of the version of Jones that we all know and hate will be present? How much do consecutive, long playoff runs effect the bodies of guys like Barkov and Tkachuk.

This trade might end up putting Spencer in a better position to be an NHL starter for a perennial cup contender than if he stayed down there. Some things have to go right for us and wrong for them, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that, years down the line, people talk about how great this move was for his career.

And if not, he's still getting paid like a starter and playing in the best league in the world. A lot to be happy about IMO.

Did you seriously just type that about not getting blamed?....look up Soderblom from last year or Mrazek comments from this season. The Blackhawk goalies are whipping boys for a crappy team...doubt it stops now and it will be a massive adjustment from winning all the time to losing all time. No matter who you are your confidence will take a major hit. A few months ago 99.9% of this board wanted Soda to be cut from hockey all together.
