If Gorts can find a way to add Zegras and Newhook to Kakko, the Rangers will be the team of the 20’s.

That would be an immense amount of talent added in 3 drafts.

that seems way too difficult to pull off. We'd need a top 10 pick to get Zegras (although I'd also want Turcotte if he was also available then). I am hoping Newhook falls to our 22nd OA.

It was a good pass, pretty standard on a PP for a skill player. Nothing like the superb move Barzal made, which is what I would call setting up the GWG.

More importantly, Panarin scored 3 goals in a 19 game stretch when the team was desperate. I'm not paying $10M+ for a guy who disappears at crunch time. We had an $8M version of that in Nash. We dodged Nash 2.0 by trading Hayes, another guy who disappears in big moments.

Wow, nice selective stats there. Let's ignore the 13 assists he had in that same timespan for a guy that's considered more of a playmaker than a goal scorer. 16 points in 19 games. Yeah, that's what I call "disappearing". Come on.

Furthermore, he's playing against a vastly superior team (TB) that's keying on HIM. Tampa can spread that around. Columbus really can't and he got a primary assist anyway.

Truth is, his playoff resume is pretty limited and I don't think it'll be vastly expanded this year. 18 playoff games, 12 points. Not enough of a sample size to call him Rick Nash 2.0

I like him as a player, but believe me, the contract he's going to get is scary. Not sure I'd do it.
