Around the NHL: Part Playoffs!

Nice, blues tied it.

I'm rooting for them because I have Elliott signed for 3 more years in fantasy, and if the blues go on a deep playoff run and he performs well, he'll have more trade value this offseason :)

If our game 5 is as tense as the ones in Anaheim and St. Louis, I don't think my heart could take it.

Is that actually a thing? Have I missed that somehow? That is idiotic.

Also - fail on the 5 min major for Detroit.

Yes, it is an actual thing.

All anyone ever talks about is how Datsyuk and Zetterberg are old and how Detroit won't have anyone to put on the ice.

Yeah, I think they have the best prospect pool in the league.

I mean... its true that losing Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and eventually Franzen within 5-6 years of each other will be really tough for a team to adapt to. Those are huge loses and tough players to replace. And for a fanbase that is used to having the best defender in the league for 20 years, you do kind of get spoiled.

All of that said, its ridiculous to say that a prospect pool with Nyquist, Tatar, DeKeyser, Brunner (sort of), Andersson, Jurco, Smith, Kindl is bad. Almqvist is very early in his development, but sure isn't looking like a slouch either.

Their forward prospects are definitely more promising than their d prospects. That said, the Dekeyser pickup is looking very good so far. Lidstrom played a big role in getting him there and had nothing but good things to say about the kid.

Who you guys rooting for in the West?

I really like the Blues, just because I'm a big Backes fan and I love the way they play. Also like the Sharks.

EDIT: And right when I say that, look what happens. Just my luck.

Yep. Jankrok is another good one. Wings always find a way to find great players.

I'm rooting for good games and a variety of start times.

Like somebody said, good games to watch is Goal 1. Getting lots of great games, but I would love to see the Wings make it out of the West. Probably won't happen, would like to see the Sharks pull it out after the Wings.
