Around the NHL: Part Playoffs!

Screw the Isles. Pens have no shot at winning the Cup. Let them beat the Isles then get mauled by Ottawa.

I can't believe Rangers fans are rooting for the Islanders.

I like the chances of the Rangers beating the Islanders if they have to play over the Pens. Just my thinking...

Rooting for is a strong word. I just so happen to loathe the Islanders about a billion times less and to see the "Super Unstoppable Dynastic Murder Team" get axed by an 8th seed would be glorious.

Craig Smith with the Hatty, he's been impressive in this tourney so far.

No idea who's gonna win this year, Russia, Canada, USA or Sweden. All good teams.

I find it fascinating that we could end up playing Ottawa again, right after playing Washington. After the way this season ended, I never thought the exact same matchup as last season would even be plausible (obviously 1st and 2nd round teams flip-flopped, but still).

Obviously there's still some work to be done on our end and the Isles are still only half-way there, but I did not see Montreal going down to Ottawa (especially this quickly), nor did I see see Pit-NYI even being this competitive. Not so long ago, Nabokov was considered a big-time playoff choker in San Jose. Not that he's been as good as Hank, but he's been strong enough.

Anyone rooting for the Islanders must not have to deal with their fans on a daily basis. They hate us more than they like their own team. Why should we root for the Isles when Ottawa is more than capable of beating the Penguins?

What? Nabokov's GAA in this series is 4.56

I was rooting for the Isles then when they scored I heard all their fans cheer and I thought "Why the hell am I rooting for the Isles?"

Why? To be honest, my hatred for ****sburgh far exceeds my hatred of the Islanders which goes back to their cup run from 80-83. The last 10+ years or so, my hatred has morphed into more of a dislike of them and I even feel sorry that they were forced to move from the Nassau Coliseum to Barclay Center because of the ******** politics in Hempstead.
They belong out there playing in a renovated Coliseum and for my money, that's still the best place to watch a hockey game hands down because every fan is close to the action, the sitelines are terrific, it doesn't take 1/2 hour to get out of the building after the game and it's devoid of all the nonsensical corporate ******** that permeates the Garden thanks to a ***** of an owner who doesn't give a crap about the hockey team per say.

Get the picture now??

True, I meant relatively speaking...the Pens offense is capable of generating some pretty unstoppable chances - I have seen goalies play great games and give up 5 and I've seen goalies play poorly and give up 1 or 2. I can, however, only go based on limited highlights and word-of-mouth as I have not had a chance to watch the games in full.

this this this:handclap:

How easy they forgot Jiggs, Westfall and Fishler.

Michel Therrien:"our captain was crying in my arms when he learned he could not play anymore."

On the subject of rooting for the Isles: even when I lived in Manhattan, the only people I ever saw with Isles gear were homeless people. I dislike them, but I like when both NYR/NYI are playoff caliber.

There is so much I want to say in response to this, but it all seems SO wrong, so I'll just shut up.

It's hard not to root for the Islanders this year. They're just a gritty, skilled, young team that is fun to watch. No hate able players over there anymore. Same goes for the Sens. All emotions aside, which is obviously impossible in reality, I like the games that both of those teams play better than this year's Rangers. Sad but true.
