Sorry, but I'm really confused by how this process works. Can you (or anyone) please explain it to me? I was under the impression that the teams in the playoffs are essentially re-seeded (in terms of the draft) based on their success in the playoffs and regular season points. Thus, WPG now being out would have its pick be below all teams that move on to the next round. So as it stands now, the worst that pick would be could be 22. But if the teams you mentioned move on to the semi-finals, it could fall as low as 18. What I mean is that by the end of the 1st round, we will know exactly what # we are picking at because the second round has no bearing. Am I totally off-base here?
Kinda reminds me of how AV treated Yandle and Smith when we traded for them. Hayes is a good player, but when you have a coach that gets accustomed to playing 'his guys,' they can be reluctant to trust the new player irrespective of their pedigree or higher ability than other teammates.
I think your pretty correct when it comes to the higher end rentals, but I think mid-tier/lesser rentals are still important and you see these guys play signifciant roles on a lot of cup winners. I mean, I don't know that the caps win without Kempny last year. So the lesson is probably, don't spend through the teeth for a rental, but look for value in positions you could use an upgrade in.
Also, Zucc is playing an enormous role and will be a huge reason Dallas moves on should they make it through. If they make it past this round (and maybe even if they don't) their fans seem to be very happy with what he brought and the price they paid to get him.
