It was an empty net, actually.Did he actually shoot the puck or did it ricochet off his shin guard?
This system has been garbage from the moment it was implemented. The current NHL playoff format isn't up for discussion at the GM meetings but it still isn't better than the old one. If the playoffs started today, San Jose would be facing Vegas in the first round and we'd see Toronto-Boston again in the first round as well. 3 of the top 5 teams in the NHL would be guaranteed to be eliminated by the end of the 2nd round with this format. Just to ensure division rivalries in the early rounds for TV ratings. San Jose would have faced non-division opponents Minnesota or Dallas in the old format.
How would being a pioneer for the NHLPA and ensuring player’s rights be protected ever be seen as a negative?Sometimes I wonder if Lindsay done more harm than good for the game . Is it really better that everybody knows what the players are making ? I always wondered about that .
So Dr Drai’s gonna hit 50, huh?
What a ****ing beast. “Product of McDavid”.
And they are still horrible. It's amazing.
Incase anybody missed it, Jason Pominville made a Patrik Stefan level ****-up last night. Hilarious, except for the fact it would have been nice for Buffalo to get a point out of the game.
Do you think there would be any chance of Torts getting fired if they lose their next 3 games this week...Buffalo and a back to back with Penguins ? If they lose to Sabres....the GM going to have to really take a hard look to get them righted....Columbus has a hard schedule of opponents ahead . Those Pen games ARE HUGE !!!I’m rooting for Columbus. I like to see a team load up and give it a shot. If they don’t make it, all those soft, ball-less GMs like Toronto’s will feel vindicated. I like the cut of Columbus’ jib.

Haha! Had a similar question come up at work questioning “to waver” (like, vacillate) and “to waiver”. In reply to your question I’d say it’s “waive” but who knowsSo this started bugging me last night for some reason:
When the officials decide not to call icing when the puck is shot in from before the red line, do they "wave it off" because the action of the official vaguely resembles a wave, or do they "waive it off" because they are providing a waiver (exemption) to the call being made in that particular case?
I’d be amazed but weirder things have happened. Didn’t they just get rid of DuClair per Torts’ request? I doubt he’s on the hot seat. But maybe. Desperate times do call for desperate measures.Do you think there would be any chance of Torts getting fired if they lose their next 3 games this week...Buffalo and a back to back with Penguins ? Well...they better soon start winning some games or likely Jarmo and Torts will both be gone if they miss the playoffs . Those Pen games this week will be a test as to who can turn the other cheek the most times . The retaliatory calls will kill one of them for sure and one has to figure the Pens will always be the darling of the officials . Maybe they have their own ref lined up for at least one game....the ref that allows them to have garner 80% of the possible points which was on here a couple of weeks after the Ranger/Pen game . I would not be mad if Dubi was to bang Cindy around some ....I probably would enjoy it .I’d be amazed but weirder things have happened. Didn’t they just get rid of DuClair per Torts’ request? It's "wave." It's written that way in every publication and the NHL uses it as well in their print material:So this started bugging me last night for some reason:

Hybrid icing tops list of rule changes for 2013-14Attainable pass rule wiped out -- The NHL erased the attainable pass language from the icing rule, requiring officials to wave off icing only if a player touches the puck.
The attainable pass rule used to give the linesman discretion to determine if the pass could have been touched. If he felt it could have been he would wave off the icing.
