I think the only team that could theoretically "catch" the Rangers is the Devils. Finishing 4th worst would be good.

They would have essentially a 10% chance at picks 1 through 3 and at worst a 8% at the #7.

They did!
Had no knowledge of this until this morning. Watched it on "don't tell me the score .com www.dtmts.com I LOVE that (I believe to be) NHL site. Check it out, full highlights without ruining the outcome.

While watching, I was like come on Chicago.....time is running out! Tie it please! Yeah baby! Now, go to OT! Yeah baby! Then, come on Nucks.......give me a goal. Yeah baby! Perfect.

Absolute damn shame that he has some irreversible personality defect that has mysteriously emerged at this management-convenient time!
He actually is kind of an enigma as a player...maybe a bit lazy like . Played the same way in Junior a lot of times . People always will want more from him . Some guys just don't have that DRIVE factor personality trait in them though not a fault as it is DNA driven IMO ...and are happy just being the person they are . You cannot teach stuff like that . A player has it or they don't . Chris Kreider the same type of guy in a way . Some want to trade him...some want to keep him...some want him as captain...some don't . Seeing the mixed reaction on him is not surprising either since half our fan base endears him and half are always wanting more . This likely will never change...he is what he is .

its insane how Canadian media still hypes him up. Like, hands down, best goalie in the league in their eyes.
You know who has been great lately? Crawford. I always thought he was overrated because Chicago being so good offensively, while my jealousy taking over and thinking Crawford was being carried by his team. He really has led the charge in Hawks resurgence. Too late though, I believe. Lol.
Maybe I was wrong.

we got the Wings and Devils coming up, right?

Yup.

3/19 Red Wings
2/23 Maple Leafs
3/25 Penguins
3/27 Bruins
3/29 Blues
3/31 Flyers
4/1 Devils
4/3 Senators
4/5 Blue Jackets
4/6 Penguins

It's a pretty tough schedule actually, apart from the Red Wings, Devils and Senators.

yeah well I drafted him in my fantasy pool and he rewarded me with bad play and getting injured all the time. So now that playoffs come around and he starts to play well long after I got rid of him? Screw Corey Crawford

We talked about this about 40 games ago. The Rangers first half was considerably easier than their 2nd half. The hope has to be that teams like the Blue Jackets and Pens have something to play for in those final games.

Five tough games in a row (Jimmy Howard in MSG, Maple Leafs, Penguins, Bruins, Blues) followed by three weak opponents, and then finishing with a back-to-back against tough opponents.

Flyers on the tail end of b2bs (but in Philly, we'll probably miss Hart again though) and then playing NJD on the tail end of b2bs (their home finale)

I think theres a good chance we lose both.

The Rangers are 28-31-13.

The Rangers are going 4-5-1 in their last 10 games? They are 1-5-4 in the last 10. 2-6-5 in the last 13.

The remaining schedule

The Flyers are in Carolina the day before the Rangers-Flyers game in Philly. The rest of the schedule has no advantages.

This is actually what worries me... as bad as we are I'm not sure we're as bad as our record has been lately and we might regress back to the mean a little bit. Hoping not, but I would be surprised if they only win 2 or 3 games the rest of the way

The last 3 haven't been close. Down 2-0 with 1 period to play against Detroit. We just aren't scoring any more. The top line hasn't been as good without Zucc and we have little secondary scoring without Hayes.

We've only got 16 goals in our last 9 games, and 4 of those came against NJ. That's 1.5 goals per game in the other 8.

After tonight, the Rangers have two winnable games. I wouldn’t bet on them winning either of them. They’ll go 0-8-2 including tonight.

Agree, and mind you I was a huge JT backer. Honestly, JT has more talent, and if he had Vlad's effort level.....would be quite the player.

Miller is one of those players who has become such a different style of NHL player than he projected to be as a prospect.

He was a scrappy kid who played with an edge to his game and looked like the type that would typically be involved, even if the points weren't necessarily coming. In fact, I saw him as more of a 20 goal, 40 point guy who could chip in other areas, but probably didn't have higher offensive potential.

But something changed along the way. The edge became less consistent, he was a player who wasn't always involved, and it's almost as if he started to envision himself as a scorer who didn't have to do some of the little things. The offense increased, even beyond what I expected. But it seemed to accompany less of a focus on other things.

Even his personality seemed to become more stand-offish when I'd see him at different functions.

It was almost as if he couldn't walk and chew bubble gum at the same time. If he did one, he couldn't do the other. And eventually, it almost seemed like he only wanted to do either when he felt like it. At the NHL level his deficiencies, namely his apparent understanding of the nuances of the game, seemed limited --- or at least exposed.

I'm reminded of comments that Torts made about Miller back in the day, something along the lines that Miller needed to decide what kind of player he was going to be at the NHL. I feel like under AV he decided what kind of player he was going to become, and it became a player who never seemed to be the sum of his parts.

The one downside is that even if they go 0-8-2, it'll probably be too little too late to increase their draft odds much.

They would sink below Anaheim, but catching New Jersey or Detroit would be really tough unless both teams start playing .500 or better hockey. Ottawa and LA are a two horse race to the bottom.

I can only imagine the NHL marketing people aren't thrilled that the LA, Detroit, NY, Philadelphia and Chicago markets are in the lottery race, and Dallas is dangerously close as well. There's a lot of markets in the playoff race that do not really drive national revenue or interest, even under the most generous of assessments (speaking from experience).

John Klingberg scored a beauty from PP 2-1 Dallas lead and that is what Rangers need a dangerous shot from our blueline - maybe Byram! ;)

oh boy they need a good pk late in 2nd! ))

huge final 10 minutes for DAL tied. 2 points would put them into very safe territory to make the playoffs.
