Bjugstad plays wing more than center. I would not be surprised at all if he's playing wing on one of the top lines. His most common linemate this year was Barkov. His most common linemate last year was Barkov.

Hmm learn something new everyday. I remember watching him develop and thinking he had the makings of a great top-6 C

Doesn't make him a better player. Brassard is the best player in the trade

He might be but it wouldn't be saying much and it would be close either way. He has 15 points this year and his advanced stats have been horrific since becoming a depth player on Pittsburgh. He didn't workout in the Steel city, he flopped. It's good for Pittsburgh to get rid of him but I question the trade as a whole for them. Giving up those picks, taking on Nick Bjugstad who is an okay player but not very valuable given his contract.

Wonder if a team like WPG might be interested in Brassard and if he'd be a better fit there although I'm not sure he's a better player than Bryan Little at this point anyway.

A pretty meh trade all around. Florida clears cap space and gets some picks and will probably flip Brassard/Shehan for more picks and go after PAnarin/Bobrovsky in offseason.

Florida now a potential landing spot for Zuccarello?

The Rangers have more points than the Panthers. I'm not sure that they're buyers at the deadline, but may be interested in Zucc on July 1 if they don't land Panarin.

The Panthers are much more desperate to make the playoffs than the Rangers.

Bingo. The Rangers have made their intentions known.

Well sure, but I also think it's about where teams are in the process. The Rangers are still towards the beginning of the rebuild phase. The Panthers should be emerging from theirs.

Brassard won't be a Panther for long. They're already reporting that Florida is working on flipping him to another team. I think the trade for Florida was mostly to clear cap room for the summer.

Brassard never seemed like a good fit for Pittsburgh. He's not a 3rd line center. And he's really good in the playoffs but where is the ice time for him when you already have Crosby and Malkin? I think Brassard is still good enough to be a productive 2C on the right team though. Maybe Winnipeg lands him like they did with Stastny last year.

But, they're out of it. 11 points back, four teams in between, with 34 to play isn't going to happen. They didn't trade for Brassard to make a playoff push. They traded for the future which is almost a white towel at this point.

Patty "the GOAT" Kane on a wicked tear lately, and is up to 2nd in league scoring behind Kucherov. My favorite player in the league for a long time, he's one of those players I would love to bring over to the Rangers on a retirement contract when he's 35, i don't even care. Just love me some Patty Kane.
