2 quick fights in Flames Canucks game..

Just listening to Pete Deboer's post game interview. I swear he said 'ya know' at least 15 times.

I've seen Cooke teetering on the edge in other games too over the last year. He is a dyed-in-the-wool doosh, always will be.

He just pulled back enough to keep his job, as the heat was coming down on the big cheese Lemieux. It would have been pink-slip time, so he did his best act.

Edit: Not many players would have done that leg lift, then down on the other players leg, as he did on Karlsson. It was one of the most unnatural, non-regular hockey occurrances I have ever seen.

If we play them in the playoffs and Cooke does that **** again, we need to pull a Carkner. That swayed momentum to the Sens from that point on.

23 goals and 41 points in 38 games for Ovechkin.... Solid season for him...

Crazy to think he's just 38 goals away from 400.... He turns 28 in September.

One of my favorite players. Wish he'd return to his super hero form though.

Hard to imagine he will because he's so dumb and isn't able to adapt quickly.

He took the league by storm and people finally learned to defend him. We'll see how long this lasts, but he won't ever return to his 50 goal 100 point seasons again imo.

Crosby is amazing and all but Ovechkin scored 65 ****ing goals one year. 65. That still blows my mind.

Shame that I agree with you though. I just don't see him hitting those numbers again.

Ovechkin has some the greatest physical attributes by any player to ever play in this league. If Ovechkin had 70% of the intelligence that Crosby or Malkin had, he would've been able to continue his super human form.

He is an electrifying player, it is too bad.

Take a look around our conference and the injuries.

Ottawa - 4 major injuries. Their epic run has to come to an end and they've been slowing down recently. I can't imagine them going far in the playoffs without their #1 centerman and defenseman and their second best winger.

Pittsburgh- Crosby is hurt. Letang is hurt. Malkin isn't a 100%. This is a golden opportunity.

Boston- Bergeron, 4th concussion now. Bergeron is their heart and soul and best center man. He is one of the best overall centers in the league. He isn't returning any time soon from his "moderate concussion" and if he does, I can't imagine him being back to form in time.

Devils- Kovalchuk. He is their number 1 offensive option and are hurting without him.

Etc. You get the point.

We have a very good opportunity to gain ground in the standings and hopefully get 6th. From there, BECAUSE OF THE INJURIES TO TOP TEAMS, I think we actually have a decent shot in the playoffs.

Some would Eric Lindros trumps Ovechkin in that category.

I would agree with that assessment and while I didn't watch Lindros when he was playing, I'm sure he was a smart hockey player and had a greater variety to his game.

Lindros' problem was staying healthy. Ovechkin is just an enimga at times.

Zherdev was an enigma too. Not because he wasn't talented enough, he just wasn't that bright.

It's a common theme for most very skilled players that don't live up to their potential. They don't have the toolbox to go with their elite tools.

always been a HUGEEEE fan of the Big E...even when he was a Flyer :-X

Thank you for posting that - loved the beat downs of Stevens and Roy especially.

I also always liked the Big E, even when he was on the Flyers. I was so pissed that the "2nd trade" didn't go through. He was THE prototypical power forward - as a CENTER. Man alive, he was dominant when he was healthy. Too bad that family had such problems with concussions.

That should have been addressed in the 6-1 win...most perfect time ever for doing that deed as Orr did on Kaleta . Cooke deserves a real hello from Asham .

Guess who's not the least scoring team in the NHL anymore? Rangers tied for 25th and 1 goal out of 23rd. The devils have slipped behind the rangers and are a head scratching -13.

Maybe even more astonishing is that the greatest-scorer-ever-why-did-the-rangers-let-him-go PA Parenteu led Avalanche offense is last in the league.

Avs depth is pretty lean, add that two of their top 3 scorers from last year, O'Reilly and Landeskog, almost missed half the season. What was Richards and Gabs excuse?
