"Controlled play".

They lost 4 out 6. No, they didn't control play. They had spurts of great puck possession, but despite what you believe, puck possession is not the end all be all of hockey. Finishing chances is what counts, and the Penguins are the best finishers in the NHL.

I agree that Ottawa will beat the Pens, but what you're saying is laughable.

Puck possession is direct cohesion with winning percentage. Last year the Pens would've beat the Flyers with a competent goalie without a .831 save percentage. Unfortunately for Isles, Nabakov played like an absolute sieve.

They lost, bro. I don't care if there's a "direct cohesion". Their defense didn't show up when needed and their goaltending was bad. Just means that the Islanders weren't built to beat the Pens, and that' exactly what transpired.

Ottawa will beat that team, Anderson is a top 5 goalie and their defense is top 10 in the league. I worry about Karlsson's lack of explosiveness however.
Physical play will take the penguins off their game
They like to give but not receive.
Even though the penguins are dirty and cheap, they will meet their match in the senators

Agreed.

They'll have the same defensive problems they had against the Islanders, but the Senators are an elite defensive team and Anderson is so much better than Nabokov it isn't even funny.

Well this is a very short sighted approach. Yes they lost, but they had a lot of bad luck in the series. The Chicago Blackhawks last year lost in 6 games to the Phoenix Coyotes, but they were the better team in every game. **** happens.

It really isn't.

The Coyotes also moved on to the third round after that, btw.

Again, you can't just say "oh, their goaltending was bad, they didn't deserve to lose the series". That's stupid. Goalies are a part of the team, too, bro.

Sens speed will kill the Penguins. Their defense sucked all series long but the Isles were just worse defensively and Nabokov did not play that well, Fleury just outsucked him, exactly what happened in the Philly series. Paul Maclean will have that team very prepared for the Penguins.

They will have more problems with senators, especially because of the reasons you stated

Sens have size and speed on the wings just like the Islanders do, but the Senators have a nasty side that the Islanders don't really have.

Pens D is butter soft and small. They won't be able to handle their size and toughness if they can't score 4 goals on 20 shots.

The Coyotes played a very unsustainable brand of hockey and got lucky the entire postseason run. They were even outplayed significantly by a poor possession team in Nashville significantly in the playoffs. Rinne played like a sieve, while Mike Smith in the playoffs turned into a brick wall.

The Isles outshot the Pens on a basis of 5 SPG over the 6 game series. Nabakov had a horrendous .842 save percentage. Put an average goalie performance (.909) and they win that series easily.

But he didn't.

And they lost.

What is your point?

Penguins defense is not the best. Said that during the season, say that now, will say that tomorrow.
MacLean will recognize that the Senators have to keep playing their aggressive game. I always liked the way they hound the other team, and they don't give them too much respect, for example letting their defensive players set up on the point with the luxury of time and free space.

Their coach is crazy IMO in a good way. Remember what happened to Boyle after a few lovetaps to Karlsson? Imagine what will happen to Cooke.

The point is, the better team can get ousted in a playoff series.

They lost, therefore they were not the "better team". Winning is all that matters in the playoffs, what the hell is this crap about the loser being better? You can't really take solace in the fact that they "outplayed the Penguins" when they won't be having any more opportunities to "outplay" another team.

MacLean is the best coach in the league, bar none.

I think he's going to make Byslma look silly at times.

The better team can lose games. The 1993 Isles were not better than the Penguins who won 20 straight games to end the regular season, but had the luck to win the games. Of course you don't take solace in it, but **** happens in a short stretch of games.

If you can't put more pucks in the net than the other team, then you are not the better team.

Again, if the Isles were better, then please do elaborate on those two shutout losses.
