you have to have a 'system' otherwise any half competent team will beat you, the problem is that the current Rangers system seems far too restrictive and limiting

I agree. Carlyle came into Toronto and instituted a semblance of order, mainly due to the complete absence of it under Ron Wilson. Yet, the Leafs can play a good breakout game and not get into the obsessive defense-first mantra, which can be self defeating when it interrupts instinctual hockey too much.

Isles going to try to add Luongo? Miller? If they add a goalie they'll be scary. Boy, the new Atlantic is not something I really want the Rangers to be a part of

Sens in 5.

Better team lost series.

Newsflash: they lost. And not even in seven. The Islanders did a lot of great things on that series, but:

- Their defense was atrocious, especially without Andy MacDonald
- Their goaltending was also atrocious
- Brad Boyes is on the Islanders first line, and they don't have much veteran leadership up front

They don't need any. John Tavares is a top captain in the league and he's not even wearing the C yet.

Maybe they don't "need" any, but it certainly helps. They don't even need to be key players, they could be a role player or a complimentary player.

LA last year had Williams, Penner, and Fraser as their cup winning forwards.

Actually, looking at the Islanders roster, they don't have a single cup winner on it.

That type of experience is needed for the younger players. It helps them get a better understanding of what to expect or how to counter a more experienced team.

Well I can on board with that. They don't need a leader per se because they have Tavares but they could use a winner.

Nabakov was atrocious, but they controlled play most of the series. Their top 3 defenders Visnovsky, Hamonic and MacDonald were awesome. Their bottom 6 was great and their top 6 was great too. Nabakov and an incompetent bottom end of defense killed them.

Ottawa will beat that team, Anderson is a top 5 goalie and their defense is top 10 in the league. I worry about Karlsson's lack of explosiveness however.

I hate the Isles and all but after losing game 6 last year in OT I don't wish that heartbreak on anyone... Except Devil fans, but they got theirs in the finals.

"Controlled play".

They lost 4 out 6. No, they didn't control play. They had spurts of great puck possession, but despite what you believe, puck possession is not the end all be all of hockey. Finishing chances is what counts, and the Penguins are the best finishers in the NHL.

I agree that Ottawa will beat the Pens, but what you're saying is laughable.
