Apparently he can skate and isn't a tool. The ice time probably reflects his age and development right now. Nothing more than a 13th forward/4th liner right now.

Not a guy you will see in the lineup every night, but when you need that assurance against teams that like to bully, he'll be there.

The difference is Buffalo is getting goaltending. The Devils aren't and it is mentally hobbling them. They are also far, far too young.
