It's amazing how a full cap hit prior to the season when 90% of teams were near zero cap space might impact a trade return for a bottom pairing defenseman. Compared to retention plus smaller cap hit for teams looking to stock up for playoffs drives up prices

Does that also include trading a 7th for a 6th? or Scandella traded for a 4rh to Montreal and then Montreal trading him for a 2nd and a 4th? Do you have excuses for those too? Or better yet Montour for a 3rd when we gave up a 1st. Pretty sweet deals. I guess when we miss the playoffs so many years in a row you get used to defending failure.
