Pretty tame, really. I'm guessing it was a chippy game for a relatively normal scrum to get that sort of outcome.

Senators, Panthers combine for 167 penalty minutes in tension-filled game
The Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers combined for 167 penalty minutes in a tension-filled 5-0 win by the Panthers.
Brady ate the last of the stuffing and mashed potatoes and then topped it off by eating the last slice of pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving and Matthew was fed up going into the game.
No issue with someone else assuming all that risk. None at all.

My guess is that Kane's agent was hoping to get Adams to give up a second year and Adams wouldn't budge.

I read a rumor somewhere on this board today that Kane has asked for a trade to Buffalo.
Not sure where, but sounded legit.
Went back and watched the 3rd of that game after the Sabres one. The series of events were pretty wild. There was a solid 10+ straight minutes where the game was either 5 on 4, 4 on 4, or 4 on 3.Senators, Panthers combine for 167 penalty minutes in tension-filled game

That is an optimistic assessment - I heard the Sabres had a 2 year deal on the table. It's likelier Kane felt like DET was in a better place this season.
These types of deliberations typically do leak, so we may hear one way or antoerh.

I highly doubt Kane turned down a multi-year deal unless he had zero interest in playing in Buffalo and his agent merely talked to the Sabres to try and get a better deal elsewhere.
And even in that scenario, I'm fine with it.

It started to make less sense with the Quinn timetable, where the Sabres are developmentally, the emergence of Benson, and you still have Kulich and Rosen knocking on the door.
