So Dallas basically limited medium ranged shots and chances. I'm guessing the reasoning behind this is something like those medium ranged chances feature the most pre-shot movement, requiring the goalie to move around more.

I guess it never occurred to you that Vegas wanted to tee off shots from the point, on purpose, and that's why the heat map shows the most activity from the point?

The amount of crap that was being pumped in from Theodore/Schmidt was completely by design but unsurprisingly, a completely different conclusion was arrived at by just looking at a heat map on Twitter and not what was going on at ice-level from a strategic perspective.

Dallas "limited medium ranged shots and chances".

Give me a break.

Gotta love Burke - first period intermission defends instituting worst rule in hockey (puck over glass), pre-OT spends his entire segment talking about not wanting game to end on "chinsy" penalty

I think the issue with it. Is you can’t just purposefully have people hit pucks at fans as a defensive strategy

I mean, I don't know how many of his non high-danger were weak, but I do know quite a few of Andersen's were weak, and from low-quality shooters. Also, as already discussed, Khudobin didn't face off against 0.952 goaltending, and Dallas has had some good hot streaks in their secondary scoring, which have helped them get to where they are.
They're here because of offense. They were awful defensively the first 2 rounds

Yeah it's a tough compromise.

Ultimately the penalty I think is for the better just to stop the deliberate delays of game which were getting out of hand

I'm not sure but there were definitely a bunch of unnecessary crowd injuries

ya I thought there was a kid at a clb game. That’s why they had the mesh/ penalty.

Obviously safety is priority 1. But even without that. From a game play perspective it was absolutely horrible tv.

The last 10 min was “icing”. Puck over glass. Icing. Icing. Etc.

That was the netting if I remember correctly. Puck over the glass was more delay of games issues and some players doing it purposefully when needed.

Yeah, the penalty used to exist only for goalies. Until players took advantage of it and started firing the puck out of play on purpose.

I don’t mind the premise of the rule. Some, like yesterday, are unintentional. But similar to an inadvertent/accidental high stick, it happens and you have to live with it.

Actually watching hockey games instead of copy-and-pasting blog stats would definitely help with that.
I watch plenty of hockey games. That doesn't mean I'm individually analyzing every single goal that every single goalie gives up over the course of the playoffs, and neither are you. Luckily, we had somebody answer above your post, and show that Andersen has been one of the worst in the playoffs for allowing weak goals, as suspected.
what's considered low/medium/high "danger" on a blog stat site isn't anywhere close to what it was on the ice (reality).
That's not true. It's quite accurate, and matches the eye test. I'm responding to your use of those stats.

Those scrappy Isles stay alive to fight another day.

Matty Barzal looked like one of the few Isles that didn't want the series to end with his effort and compete level.

If Barzal was the only Isle who "didn't want the series to end", then why did Tampa manage only 37 shots and one goal in almost five periods? I guess Tampa wasn't interested in winning, just like Florida, Washington, and Philadelphia?

Or just maybe it's because the Isles actually have a good team. Other than Barzal, no great players, but a good team.

A young woman died off an Espen Knutsen out of play puck.

The Leafs (especially McCabe) used to abuse flipping the puck out of play when pressured.

True but that was a slap shot at the net that sailed over the glass. A puck flipped over the glass never killed any one and no netting was put in place to protect against it.
