While this is fresh in mind for those who watch the games, can we just take a mental snap shot of how infrequently finesse skills and clean, complete and creative plays occur late in the playoffs? Often times things just bog down into a low event, ugly, shovel it forward, puck retrieval, throw it on net kind of game. It’s not always entertaining but this is often what late stage playoffs look like and you need the personnel for it.

Like I said all along, the Islanders reminded me a lot of the Pat Burns Leafs that kind of did it by committee, next man up approach and when you lack an abundance of top end skill you’ll run out of gas.

In the long run, I don’t think the Islanders have cup winning potential or even a conference finals repeat. More likely they’ll have a similar fate as the 2012 Devils who managed to get even farther but weren’t really serious contenders.

Dallas looks like they have more left in the tank. But Tampa is a bit of a sentimental favourite for me so hopefully they prove me wrong.

yep. Every year some crazy team gets into the final 4. Every few a team gets into the final before getting rinsed.

The islanders showed guts and pounced
On teams that didn’t want to be there.

but man they just got destroyed about 80% of the series. Every game the bolts should have had about 6 goals.
