Just occurred to me that RSN still has Hughson and Simpson calling the Cup Finals. Not a good sign for those of us who hope Cuthbert takes over #1 play-calling duties and we get to hear him instead.

Damn aren’t we lucky to have our young flashy players, good thing we had all that cap space to pay them the 10-11 million dollars per year they deserve for achieving their sexy high point totals. I mean it would suck so much to have a roster like Dallas with a bunch of chumps, with no one near a point per game.... or how about those Islanders players hahaha...

Dallas feels like a Pat Quinn Leafs team that caught a break. Philosophically, the Shanaplan is the way I've wanted to do it forever, but they have to get the recipe right one of these years.

Agreed... this playoffs is an anomoly with the bubble. Dont think many players had alot of motivation to be in the bubble, nor play in front of no fans. Personally, the atmosphere fueled by fans never seemed there for me the few games i have watched.

Yep.

One of the reasons I'm cheeding for the Bolts is that I think its better for the health of the sport that they win.

Tampa Bay's my number 2 team, and I think they represent a clear path and easy checklist for Toronto to follow in the years to come. Most glaringly, we're missing a Hedman. Now let's go get one.

It has to be Pietrangelo then. Add him and figure out the rest. Finding a top 4/5 defenseman in the league is next to impossible

Yeah, I think you have to roll the dice on this one. Get the big piece, shuffle the deck chairs and go for it.

Yes there's a flat cap now, but for all we know the pandemic economics could change the landscape of the sport anyway.

It will be interesting if the League can run without fans for even a few games.
Let’s say the season is starting tomorrow and NHL is allowing fans back, will you guys attend the game in person?

After watching the first 2 games it makes me realize the league needs to remind the refs that clutching, grabbing, holding was supposed to be taken out the the game. If penalties were being call properly I doubt Dallas is this far. Benn could be called pretty much every shift.

Hockeybuzz Eklund says he has 'source' that's telling him that the league is considering double headers next season.

Does this guy even watch hockey?

Did he define DH because it is not 2 games on the same day like baseball. It is like what baseball does playing 2,3,4 game series vs a team.

He specifically mentioned morning and evening games in the same day.

If the league is dead set on completing an 82-game schedule, and in attempts to minimize travel, this wouldn't be the worst thing. I'd imagine something like this for divisional opponents, where they play them 4/5 times a season. So Toronto is in Buffalo on a Saturday, knock off two games. Later on in the season, Buffalo is here in Toronto and they do the same. And I'd imagine these doubleheaders would be limited for each team (maybe one a month?), and would allow for an extra day of travel and rest in between.

Might lead to some really tired players, and the emphasis of depth will never be greater (especially in net), but we have seen some unconventional things come out of the sports during this pandemic. This would just be another to the list. I suppose it's better than not having any sports at all.

Unless they expand rosters to 50 players, it's an impossibility.
