Ladd’s definitely a bit of a mystery. But I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Lou AHLs him into ending up on LTIR.
I think that'll be the plan, but I'm not sure he'd bite and not sure it'd fly with the NHL who seems to be stricter on it now.

Boychuk isn’t much more than a filler bottom pairing defenseman, but his cap hit and lower salary could be attractive for teams who might want to reach the cap floor while paying less money. The Isles used to do this consistently.
I'd agree at $2M or less, but we're still talking big money for him,($4M/yr, no?). The potential deal could be a backloaded contract with something in the $4AAV range, but does that really help the Islanders from a cap perspective? And if so, would ownership want to eat the money given the lack of playoff revenue this year? I honestly don't know

I really hope he’s wrong.

NBC will want the season to finish before the Olympics and probably January is the earliest start date.

So unless the league opts to do 2 period double header type games (doubtful) id imagine its going to be well under 82 games.

The league probably wants to go back to "normal" as soon as possible (meaning normal start of the 2021/22 season).

So all in all unfortunately next season will likely be pretty abnormal

I can't see a 82 game season. Maybe 50, which won't be a bad idea
Or even half of that so it's a sprint to the finish

I really don't want to see Ottawa 5 times a year. Let's have a royal rumble from the get go, like we did in lock out season

The plus side is that if the season is close to 82 games, teams will try harder most nights since the games will mean more.

No question NBC will want it over before the Olympics. I just hope they don’t need bubbles and will play with fans.
College football has fans and will increase the number as the season goes on. Hopefully they won’t need too many ambulances and hearses to cart out the fans.

Will there even be an Olympics by next year?
I think having fans will be the key and how the NFL is doing will be very helpful for the NHL.
I think the owners want 82 games only if they can have fans-like 50%. If they can’t have fans or just -1/4 or less, they will most likely want a shorten schedule in order to pay less salaries. Will the players agree to that is another question.
I think a lot can still happen, but there is no way the owners will agree with paying and playing a 82 games season without fans.

Japan has said the Olympics are happening so NBC will have to plan accordingly.

Who happened to make the Eastern Conference finals and gave the best team in hockey a run for their money.

If you didn't notice they lost the series yesterday so no reason to be bitter. What's the point of all of this?
I don't think anyone is bitter. The team wasn't good. A team can also get really hot, look at the Devils the one year, even Dallas has for these "playoffs"

Is it me but does the Friedge look different from pre COVID Friedge ? Did he lose weight, or is age catching up to him ??

Players don't want to play the season in a "bubble". As such, if they don't open the border up to American teams, we might see each team up to 10 times.

It certainly sounds like it. There are 16 teams that did better than us in the playoffs this year. Why are we obsessing on one?

Insecurity, jealousy, anger. All emotions the usual suspects show when discussing the Islanders. It all stems from the day Lou's contract expired and they chose Dubas as the successor.

They should cut the reg season down and have another play in style round to compensate for less games.

Play everyone twice, home/away, 60 games. 20 teams qualify.

4 wild cards per conference. 3 of 5 playoff for 16 teams left.

My point had more to do with will it happens at all due to COVID or whatever virus that shows up.

But when it comes to scheduling hockey (and TV networks) that has to be taken into account well in advance so unless the Olympics are canceled outright between now and January, it'll have go under the presumption that its happening

Didn’t thought of that, good point

Damn aren’t we lucky to have our young flashy players, good thing we had all that cap space to pay them the 10-11 million dollars per year they deserve for achieving their sexy high point totals. I mean it would suck so much to have a roster like Dallas with a bunch of chumps, with no one near a point per game.... or how about those Islanders players hahaha...

Matthews finished tied (0-0-0-1-5) with Malkin for 10th in Hart voting. Eichel managed to finish ahead despite not even making the play-ins. Definitely no Leafs bias when it comes to PHWA voting.

Could just be the weakness showing through, or me highlight watching, but it seems like Dallas has taken advantage of TB's weak right side. Bogo, Shattenkirk and Schenn all responsible for a GA each so far this series.
