"Hey lemme see your phone to see what kinda person is gonna captain my hockey team."

There's no way to spin that as not creep behavior, which in Babcock's case, is a colossal upgrade from "massive piece of shit human being" behavior. So, progress, I guess.
*taps on bathroom stall door*
Coach, are you done with my phone yet?

If there was something even remotely wrong with what Babcock did the NHLPA would be screaming over it. They arent and no creditable media person is backing this story.

Friedman also spoke to Johnny Hockey on his podcast and confirmed the story, although Gaudreau didn't really have a problem with it for what its worth. Friedman had a different take. But as always, your mileage may vary. I would imagine there's a big difference in the camera reel between a married man and a 22 year old single kid haha.

And the NHL and NHLPA said yesterday they had found nothing. If a player(s) had an issue, theyd be going to the NHLPA. The fact its a podcast and not someone like Freid reporting this really makes it sound like someone with a personal ax to grind vs an actual issue.

Friedman spent 30 minutes discussing this: 32 Thoughts: The Podcast

Paraphrasing him "I don't think this is over. I wonder how some of the younger players felt. I talked to the NHLPA and they're still investigating. I think it could come down to some of the young guys. Still TBD"

Due diligence.

The thing for me is if he did something wrong again and the Jackets knew, they have cause to get out of that giant contract they gave him and go a different route for a year.

Instead they did their own digging and realized Paulie Dipshit and his podcast of morons likely spread it as something else and now they have to look into it to avoid another black eye on the NHL for this.

I think Babs is an asshole but the whole putting their shit on blast mate? I don't buy it. I think he likely was trying to connect to his team after being away for a few years and figured hey they have families, everyone plays for someone other than themselves, route. Or it's what it's being misconstrued as by Paul, as checking if they're a locker room problem with their off ice activities - which I mean if teams didn't care before and now, why does he?

This feels like more than due diligence to me. The two most chief members of the NHLPA flying to CBJ so they can talk with the players directly. I legitimately think he creeped out a good portion of the team, particularly the young guys.

Elliotte Friedman on Mike Babcock investigations:

"It appears things changed... when information was received that some of the younger Blue Jackets were uncomfortable with what had occurred. That appears to be the major focus of the investigation."

I believe the NHLPA and NHL are meeting this morning, so hopefully we get some closure on this soon.

He won't be fired, but I'm sure many of his players think he's an idiot already, and the rest will come around to that idea when the season actually starts.

I don’t know man, as of last year Columbus had the 3rd youngest roster in the league. Average age of 25. It’s not unreasonable to think that the majority of guys in that locker room weren’t comfortable with this.

Edit: Youngest roster in the NHL this year.

Sure, but the NHL is f***ing dumb, and Columbus is right near the top of the pile when it comes to stupid organizations. I mean, they hired Babcock in the first place.

I'm sure it'll be a slap on the wrist and that's that. Always is--hope I'm wrong though.

Yeah just read up on more info. Babs, if he somehow isn’t fired today, really doesn’t get it.

Also saw a clip about his time at Sask by an ex nhl player, Rosehill where he says Babs was literally just there to show he was changing as a person but remained a dick to everyone there.
