Possess all you want. When all it takes is two goals in three shots from Talbot.. Youre boned.I'm glad we won in 09 but still surprised to this day that we did. Those Wings teams were terrors of puck possession.
Babcock's tenure on the Wings marks where I began to realize that rosters are what wins cups, not coaches.
It's a W for the NHLPA.I guess it's safe to say things didn't go down like the PR damage control statement that was like "It's fine, we just shared pics of us fishing all summer and our kids' birthday parties."
What a f***ing loser. Hopefully this is the last we have to hear of Babcock.
Nah this is revisionist history, Pens played Detroit well enough besides game 5.Possess all you want. When all it takes is two goals in three shots from Talbot.. Youre boned.
Also. Yeah. Pens had no real business winning that but we'll take it!
Also went winless!I think Babcock will go down in Columbus’ record books as the coach who lost the fewest games in team history…
True, but it’s Columbus, so you have to focus hard on the positive lolAlso went winless!
Hey, it's not Cleveland.True, but it’s Columbus, so you have to focus hard on the positive lol
For sure. That's just it. Like Bylsma was able to luck into a cup with two generational centers, I don't think in retrospect, Babcock's coaching acumen is nearly what it was made out to be. The Wings won those Cups, not Babcock. You can win a cup without a player who's generational at his position, but man, those Red Wings teams are not examples of it.How many rosters have Lidstrom, Zetterbeg, Datsyuk, and Rafalski? The Wings were the exception - not the norm - during his time there.
Holy shit, what got turned in that investigation? I thought they were going to have to drag him out kicking and screaming.Well I'll be damned. He actually resigned. Good riddance.
Also went winless!
Oh absolutely, I don't think anyone walks away from $8 million (for doing nothing!) unless there's something not great they don't want in the public eye.I have to think there's some details that aren't public yet.
The only juicy nugget I've been able to glean is this from Friedman, "According to multiple sources, one of the most serious concerns was a meeting that occurred away from team facilities that included “several minutes” of looking through a phone. That was beyond the scope of what was initially understood to have occurred."I have to think there's some details that aren't public yet.

The "away from team facilities" part has me curious.

Do they actually have to pay Babs since he resigned?Legendary tenure.
Whatever. It was a moronic idea to begin with. I don't really care how you slice it... the guy is a big bucket of douche and NHL coaches aren't worth that kind of hassle.
8M for not even one NHL game. Nice one, Jackets. You went from Torts to this guy. Brilliant.
Do they actually have to pay Babs since he resigned?
Yes, but they negotiated an exit price since he didn’t really start coaching…I think they’re paying him for two years of the contract he signedDo they actually have to pay Babs since he resigned?
How many millions has Babcock been paid now to not coach?Yes, but they negotiated an exit price since he didn’t really start coaching…I think they’re paying him for two years of the contract he signed
