Was a pretty mutual mugging though...McDavid threw punches while sitting on Garland (who was holding him). McDavid got a match penalty in the final seconds for attempt to injure. HAS to be a suspension.

Refs let it carry on instead of blowing the play down and sending both off, then you don't get the garbage. you're right though needs to be a suspension but will they, also Myers's actions needs a suspension but he's no superstar.
If you watched the whole thing Bouchard had Pettersson down in the other end of the rink 30 seconds before the Garland/Mcdavid thing that's why they didn't call it on Garland. Refs tried to give the Oilers a shot and it backfired
Agree it was poor reffing to let that play on. Should have blown the whistle and sent both to the box.

I'm assuming Helle gets the 1st start... if he plays well, do they ride him?
At the end of the day, there's 13 days between our last league game in the first one after the break. I was concerned about the extra workload if he does play (potentially) all 4 games, but I don't think it would be an issue even if he does. That's a much lower work rate than he's used to
There's also the possibility that "playoff helle" shows up and he only gets the first game before Ottengier or Swayman takes the ball and runs with it

What next?
The Sabres haven't made the playoffs since 2011 (lost in first round) and have traded players like Montour, Eichel, Reinhart, Ullmark and a few others I am forgetting. I'd say Risto but I don't like him and they dealt him at the right time and got Hagg and a 1st and 2nd.
They also traded there 9th overall pick for a 3rd line center? I believe it was.
Don't even start with the contract mistakes...a total mess over there starting at the top.
While we're bitching about Stan and and and...what else were we bitching about this year?
Oh ya, 2nd line wasn't clicking until the change...all the while we have been in first place in the league or very, very close to it.

Laine with the GWG. Habs came back 4 times in the game. 2 scraps in this one. Rempe isn't getting it done. Borgen not a good night. Chityl either. Lots of guys probably hearing their names in trades, wondering what's next.
Eastern Wild Card race is crazy how many teams are right in there.
Laine is going to be a folk hero if he gets the Canadiens back to the playoffs.

When times are good in Montreal for Patrik they will never be better, when times are bad they will never be worse.
Right now most of the buzz is around what Hutson’s Calder level season but Laine is playing is role well. Currently Laine is shooting at 25% clip (same as Schief this season). Pate has a career shooting % of 15 so he is riding a heater. We shall see how long the good times roll.
