Wow.. Trouba really just doesnt care if he wins a Stanley Cup or not.

How could you dedicate your whole life to Hockey and not care to go to a team with a chance at winning?

He's really just gonna throw on some sunshades and sandals and ride off into the Sunset.

From the reports, the offers were basically from Columbus, Detroit or Anaheim. No team near the top was involved.

Seems like a bad strategy. If he continues to decline, gets hurt, etc. then the Ducks are in the same position as the Rangers were yesterday.

Verbeek is either making a galaxy brain play or doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing. Maybe he’s planning a total roster purge and wants Trouba’s salary to keep them at the floor?
Maybe they're hoping for a magical turnaround of JT's play?

I have bad news for them, he's always been overrated. Even peak Trouba isn't worth that contract.

Kypreos saying Jets and canucks were both very interested
LOL we dodged a bullet there. Also, I don't believe a word that comes out of that dooshnozzles mouth.

No way Chevy would take Trouba back without max retention from the Rags.

Never say never but I don't think Chevy or the Jets had any interest in bringing Trouba back, having watched quite a few Rangers games the past few years that's a good thing. Apart from looking for a knockout blow his game is not what it used to be. Looks like he has lost a step or two.
Yeah Chevy doesn't really go for expensive washed up guys - and the way that Trouba left - the org works hard to have players who actually want to be here and he doesn't fit that mold.

Maybe after this contract expires (if he's still an NHL player) and he comes with his tail between his legs we give him a 2 way at league minimum :P

Oversized man baby Trouba with all the leverage and a NMC crying that he chose family over his dismal play on the ice…wah, wah, wah!

Just another in a long line of entitled rich kid hockey players…

No trade clause’s ruining hockey!

I'll believe a Kypreos report when I grow wings.
If he's not reliable, thanks for noting. I'm not sure how reliable he is for info. Just putting it out there as it conflicted with people saying Chevy had zero interest.

Traded for both Stastny and Schmidt a couple years ago. All situations are different. Just saying.

Hard to say. I think Chevy would have had some interest in acquiring Trouba, but that Cap Hit couldn't fit, the Rangers did not want to retain, so that convo couldn't have gone far. And Trouba's NTC is in there too.

Trouba to Vancouver makes more sense, because they have a 2 month hole without Hronek, and that's bumped up all their RD (particularly Myers and Juulsen) to maybe unstainable minutes. But only way Vancouver could trade for Trouba would be to send Miller to New York and that would have been a lot of moving parts in such a trade to make it equitable.

Neither makes sense with the extra year on his contract... trouba would eat up sambergs raise

Yeah that report said they couldn't agree on a deal, so good chance Jets weren't seriously in the running at taking on the full salary.

Even if Trouba lost a step or two, the team knows what they are getting in the room, and he knows what to expect from the org. That ship looks to have sailed though. I imagine his family will assimilate to SoCal life just fine haha

Buffalo getting clown pounded by the HC, they have some talent but I still think Ruff was the wrong hire
That mess isn't on Lindy, it is on the owner.

A smart man wouldn't hire GMKA to run the rebuild.
If they were smart, they would throw everyting and the kitchen sink at Chevy and try to pry him away from us to rebuild their franchise peoperly.

I remember Armia? saying he spoke with the Jets every week during the summer and he would rarely hear from the Sabres while in their organization. Their whole organization needs to be rebuilt from the very top to the very bottom. Can you imagine not making the playoffs since the Jets have entered the league? (coincidentally, Ruff was their coach that year as well).
Maybe Chevy can pry away Peterka or another up and coming player from them?

NTC and NMC could be revisited during the next CBA, it's a stretch to think that the players that can get it would give it up
Make it a "taxable benefit" - attach a value to it and charge that against the cap. Teams use it as a way to compensate players without money/cap hit. So make an NTC cost an additional 15% of the contract value against the cap ($8M becomes $9.2M cap hit). NMC +25% ($8M becomes $10M).
