Could argue that nothing in return is an overpay on the Ducks part.The Rangers wanted Trouba gone so badly they literally got nothing in return for him
I’m surprised they didn’t make the Rangers throw in a draft pick, tbh.

Guerin will be an active GM. He's got a good window now with the Parise and Suter Cap crunch coming off their books next year. And it's a team with a lot of veterans.
Jim Nill isn't afraid to make hockey moves either.
They probably both move before Chevy does.

Wow.. Trouba really just doesnt care if he wins a Stanley Cup or not.

If I read that right the two biggest weaknesses in Trouba's game last year were zone exits and denials. You contrast that to the shutdown years he played here with Morrissey, and you wonder how much guys like Lowry and Copp were players that helped him in that regard.The Trouba micro and fancy stats you've all been clamoring for:

because if he didn't accept a trade to the ducks he would have been put on waivers where another bad team with cap space could have taken him, at least this way he gets to choose what team he goes to

I don't think the Ducks are trying to lose this year. They are 8 points back of Calgary with 3 in hand, 7 points back of Edmonton with 2 in hand. 58 games to go. If anything it's a shakeup. Worked in St. Louis, they are now tied with Colorado in the standings.
Playing with Morrissey would do nothing but help .

That said. People have started talking that the Ducks could retain half and dump him at the deadline.
That makes sense to me.
Hellebuyck is an absolute steal
Shesterkin is a solidly above-average NHL starter getting paid like he's elite.

Big market teams will be pushing for a big hike in the Salary Cap, Rangers case in point will have 7 players making 60m plus next year
I have seen some things that are saying the Jets might get defenseman Marcus Pettersson from Pittsburgh.
