absolutely loving the Ducks fans on the trade board trying to rationalize this as anything but a terrible move on the Ducks part
Honestly, who cares from their perspective? I thought he had like 3-4 years left after this one, but it's just one more season. Plus he will 1000% be flippable to a playoff team at an increased return since Anaheim has all of their retention slots. And they aren't even close to the cap.

Its actually not too bad. They need a bottom pair RD because they only have 2 and are rotating LD in the 3rd spot. It lets them put developing guys on their correct side of the ice.

(probably could have filled this spot with someone making $1m aav though)

He only has one year left after this year and Anaheim has like $20 mil in cap space, plus Fowler's $6.5 million coming off the books after this year and the cap going up. I don't think they remotely care about the aav.

I hate the fact that the Ducks let the Rangers off the hook and actually gave up something for Trouba, but it's not a move that's really gonna hurt them. They only gave up a 4th round pick and journeyman defenseman and get a vet that, even given his flaws, was named captain for a reason and could probably be flipped at next year's deadline if they're still not in the playoff hunt.

Who cares if the Ducks bailed out the Rangers terrible decisions?

1. Even if this does happen to the Rags benefit a lot, it hasn’t done them a hell of a lot of good in the last 30 years.
2. We don’t get to deal with his flying elbow attack anymore. Now that’s Vegas’s problem. He can start by attacking Mark Stone’s flashing weak point.
3. Their locker room is fragile enough as it is, this could very well hurt the egos in there.

Good riddance to shit. I’m gonna watch this video 50 times tonight in celebration.

The Devils got to dump Vanecek for basically nothing last trade deadline.

I will say that players with malice are, I think, somewhat of a dying breed in the NHL. The generation of Trouba, Dillon, Gudas, and Gudbranson is aging out, and I'm not sure who is coming in to replace those guys - a player like Vaakanainen was looked at a possibility but now he's on the real fringes of the NHL. There's Xhekaj and Lauzon. There's Romanov who can lay some big hits. But this type of D man seems to be going away. I can see why Verbeek wants him, even though I think it's quite a stupid move overall - I don't think he will get very much back at the deadline next year for him.

big day for rangers future today. don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing, but in the immediacy, they get the wake up call they needed by trading trouba and get the igor signing monkey off their back.
