Around the NHL 2024-25 regular season Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I am BEGGING any higher power that will listen to have Ovechkin's record breaking goal called back for offsides. Because f*** the NHL, they deserve to have the worst look of all time.

Hopefully it happens in Washington and the offsides was like 50 seconds before the goal happened.

Sadly, they don't have Philly any more this season. Imagine Torts being the coach to call for the offsides. :D There's a possibility against the Fishsticks at UBS second to last game of the season with Roy calling for it. I would've preferred Torts though.

lol if its offsides its offsides rules are rules i used to hate the offside review but i get it. kicking motion would be even funnier for me though

Unique outdoor game would be fantastic. One of the big ODR Instagram lakes in Canada, Tahoe, Placid.

really give it a pond hockey feel. i mean the ASG is legit played like pond hockey so why not actually play it on one? its a pipe dream but in social media dominate society it would do wonders

Another idea. Put it on the Intrepid lol. Use the catapult to blast off any of our spare parts.
Not gonna lie. Playing a game on the Intrepid or another carrier would be pretty sweet. I'm sure a lot of people would think it was tacky, but if you could get a 200 foot sheet of ice on something like that it would be pretty sweet. Something a little more innovative now than the stadium games.

I'm thinking they don't have the dressing room space for two NHL teams for something like that, even if they had the room for the ice. It probably wouldn't meet the other specs.

Sounds like a cool idea though,

I also like the idea of having an NHL game in the infield of a speedway. I think it would be a cool novelty to have an NHL game at Daytona or Indy.

Is Wood already a healthy scratch for Colorado? How many years are left on that contract still?

4 years after this.

4 points (2 goals, 2 assists() in 29 games this year. I think he's been MOSTLY injured over the 40-ish games that he hasn't played, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's some healthy scratches in there.

do the existing teams split all of that or is there a % thats set aside for the league and players? they will easily sell them even at 2 billion mainly because the 1%ers thats a bargain they aren't getting into the nfl nba mlb for that price and values only continue to rise.

It’s just split amongst the teams equally.

The players get more roster spots and increased ongoing revenue from the new team.

its a no brainer then splitting 4 billion among 32 individuals? who says no to that! heck i dont know why the nfl mlb nba aren't doing similar those expansion fees can easily fetch double+

the kraken owner just spent 650 million to get the team its already worth a quick google search 1.6 billion and not sure if they are included in getting payments for new expansion teams but going to get 110+ back in fees?

Lovely. But not surprising. There's corruption in every facet of life.

This is common in any youth travel sport. We participated in multiple sports and someone is always getting a part of the fee. The teams themselves run the same way. Nobody is doing this for free. I guess the organizers could have charged a higher fee for each team entry to make the same amount. In my view this is a lot less offensive than the coaching fees that are charged for parents desperate for their kid to succeed and get a scholarship that in reality he has nearly zero chance at.

i think its super offensive to force families to stay at select hotels for additional days not needed and only doing so because the kickback the organizers get. i have kids entering the sports age phase but there is 0 chance i'm getting them involved in these travel leagues i dont get the appeal personally.

love the mention of covid in this story too 5 years later lol

The whole thing is a money making industry. If you have kids that are good at a sport it will be difficult to keep them away from this stuff. Especially boys. It’s a whole social thing. My kids all enjoyed it.
