Remember when we thought around this time 4 years ago that we'd probably need $10-$11 million per to have Taylor Hall locked up through 2028? And then he only gets $6 million (I think?) until 2026 (I think?) after one year at like $8.5 million in a disastrous year in Buffalo that likely cost him a decent amount.

Enjoy rotting in Chicago, who may very well be bad until he's in his late 30's and this deal is over.

He said a lot of unsavory things on his way out the door, so I couldn't care less for this player anymore. And it's not like he did much better after leaving here. Never had a year like that again and has won as many playoff rounds as Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier have, unless you include the SHAM playin against the Nashville Hiney Heads. Dick Tanket can celebrate that one too. It probably got him another head coaching job.

And in years from now, his name (along with Corey Perry maybe? and Jose Theodore) is gonna stick out as a rando on the Hart Trophy winners, the same way Cam Ward's name sticks out among Conn Smythe winners.

When you look at the list of guys that have won the award, almost everybody is either in the HOF already or probably will be and that includes the more recent winners like Auston Matthews and Leon Draisaitl.

The 3 names that really stick out as ''WUT? HE actually won the Hart Trophy????'' are Jose Theodore, Corey Perry and Taylor Hall.

And no, Perry is not an HOF'er. I've seen that on the mainboard quite a few times. See you in the hall of very good with Shane Doan. Taylor Hall will be right in there with them. If it's any consolation, Jose Theodore won't even gain membership to that.

Really don’t remember Hall saying anything bad when he left, what am I forgetting?

I think everything with Hall was made bigger than it needed to be in his final go round here given he was a pending FA and the team was playing like total garbage.

At the end of the day, it all worked out even if we had to go through a couple of bad years afterwards. Imagine if we gave him that double digit cap number that was rumored? And I was for it back then. We really dodged a bullet in not locking him up long term. He's still a good player, but certainly not what he once was. Though I'm curious how he'll do with a greater role again given he didn't have to be anywhere close to the guy in Boston.

Hall needs to fire his agent.

Patrick Kane and Jon Toews both live in Chicago and neither of them wants to play there.
I would assume Chicago wasn't on the no-trade list because...Hall didn't want them on the no-trade list. I doubt his agent just put random names on the NTC.

Clearing cap isn’t hard. I know Foligno’s a UFA, still.

Interesting that Foligno is involved. Perhaps Chicago also wants to sign him, for "veteran leadership" during the rebuild.

That trade sucked at first because we thought we were getting an B tier prospect but the best prospect turned out to be Bahl. Mercer, Bahl, Siegs coming from that 2019 Hall trade is utterly absurd.

ooof. someone suggested they were going to get a first... someone else said a 2nd (considering Chicago has four 2nd picks.... not an awful thought). I thought at best a 3rd, since they have two of them.

Still surprising thats it. Unless those RFAs are any good?

One thing that sticks out is his post game comments around Halloween of 2019.

When he said something like ''It's hard to enough to battle against another team and we have to battle against the fans too?'' when the fans booed in a game where we lost 7-6 in OT to Tampa. I think the fans were booing when we were on the power play and didn't score, but I could be getting that part confused with when the team was booed in 2010 when we got shutout 1-0 and couldn't score on a 4 minute double minor.

That game was mostly on Cory, who did take full responsibility in the post game (as he always did), while Hall took to his soap box to complain about having to play against both the other team and our team's fans. Palmieri even had a hat trick in that game.

Don't get me wrong, I don't really hate him or anything, but I also think it's hilarious that he made comments about wanting to play for a winner and then he goes and signs with Buffalo for a year (because the offers really weren't there that both us and him thought he was going to get, the covid situation/cap stalling also didn't help matters) and this many years he's won as many REAL playoff rounds as Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes have. And now he's being shipped to yet another perennial loser, much like Edmonton when he was there and the majority of his time he was here.

Again, I don't honestly think he's this choker or loser like many people argued in the past and the dumb narratives when he got shipped to us from Edmonton, but I just find his career both a bit depressing and funny, at the same time.

He's still a pretty good player, but he's not worth anywhere near $10-$11 million, which was what we were speculating it would take to lock him up on an 8 year deal. I can't imagine what kind of a team we'd be with 5 more years of that left. Maybe we would have been the ones trading him to Chicago today and retaining $4-$5 million of it ourselves?

Nah, the whole Hall thing was fans booing the team and Hall said something to the lines "it's tough to play when your own fans don't have your back" or some shit.

I swear he said something along the lines of ''Battling'' against both the opposition and the home fans. He did use the word battle. See my memory isn't that bad yet.

“We’re kind of battling our own fans at this point. We’re 1-for-3 on the power play and we’re getting booed. It’s a tie game and we’re getting booed. That’s a tough environment to play in sometimes, especially when you’re at home. I know when we’re playing somewhere and their fans start booing, it’s a fun environment for the away team to play in. I understand the fans’ frustration. After the game, if they’re booing because we’re losing, that’s fine. But when we’re 1-for-3 on the power play and they’re booing, it’s tough. If you’re playing at home, you want to feed off the energy of the crowd and not let that affect you but sometimes it does.”

He seemed to be mad that we were booing in a game that we weren't losing and were tied in.

He still seems to be booed every time he's played in the building (other than the no fans covid season) as well, which confuses a lot of people, but I'd say that piece has a lot to do with it.

I personally wouldn't boo him, but I understand why he's booed.

Like I said, I have mixed feelings about him.

Not sure if I wanna feel bad or laugh that he's ended up in Chicago.

I'm sure if I posted that on the main board there would be at least one crazy Chicago fan trying to convince me that they'll be in the playoffs this year if Bedard is healthy. Especially in the West lol.

Because Crosby, Ovechkin and McDavid's (he did miss half his rookie season injured, to be fair) teams all made the playoffs in their first year also.
