I didn’t realize that Buffalo was going to be 13 years out of the playoffs. I thought they would be a playoff team with the talent they have. Makes me wonder how much more rebuilding is needed for the Ducks even if we were to luck out with Celebrini. We probably need to prioritize getting established coaching and leadership so Cronin is likely just a temporary stopgap.

Cheers to not being the worst organization for at least another year!
In that 12 seasons, they have had 4 GM’s, and 7 coaches. The downside to activist owners.

It's like they got Arte Moreno as owner but at least they've had more drafting success than the Angels.

Except they haven't had the two best players in the world for a large chunk of that time. I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse, honestly.

Its exactly why you dont rush a rebuild. They will be paying for this for a long time after Kopitar and Doughty retire
they didn't even finish their rebuild. they tried it for a couple seasons before kopitar/doughty got over it and told the FO to start making moves so they can contend again. they've been incredibly lucky that their core from a decade+ ago is still playing at a high level. but who are they going to build around once those two are gone? PLD is extremely overrated and fiala isn't exactly someone you build around. byfield has improved a lot this season but it remains to be seen what level he's playing at in a few years

they've got some nice young D pieces in spence and clarke, but aside from that, their prospect pool doesn't seem very promising

I don't think you can look at a team that has been trading away futures for 2 years through the lens of a rebuilding team. Clarke to eventually replace Doughty and Byfield to replace Kopitar, eventually. They still have the other players you mention as support. The Turcotte bust really hurt them.

Oilers are my second team, I'm good with this.

Yeah Oilers aren't Nashville/LA/Detroit level enemy. Even moving outside of the conference Detroit still feels like a major enemy and when they play each other its still Detroit on PP every 5 minutes being gifted PPs.

I haven't gotten over the 09 and 13 playoffs I guess. The Refs were like: oh no Perry smiled at Lidstrom I think it was malicious let's give Detroit a PP.
