Such a coincidence that the moment this story starts to gain clarity, the Salt Lake City expansion talk suddenly re-emerges running parallel! The way this league and the insiders who are in the tank with it continue to insult the intelligence of the fans who follow it will never cease to amuse me.
This is a tin foil hat level take and I'm gonna be honest I think it's true.

Call me a simpleton but I sense SLC smells blood in the water in AZ and decided to noisily apply for a non existent expansion team. I see nothing more there.

Yeah that trade doesn't look good. PLD is a decent player but he's never been some superstar IMO.

That contract may look worse and worse as the years go on if PLD doesn't pick it up in huge way.

You got to love seeing what’s going on in LA. Certain veteran players didn’t want to be on a rebuilding team so Blake killed the rebuild in its track to win now and they are royally screwed if they don’t win it this year. What a disaster.

PLD is very talented but has major attitude problems. He looks uninterested some nights

Honestly with how great Faber is the Fiala trade might be worse. :walrus:
This is why I don’t think the Terry contract is a bad one or ever will be. Would you rather just pay Terry or have to give up crazy assets to go get a guy like him(Fiala)?

LA trading for PLD has been awesome. They essentially gave a bum $8.5m for 8 years with a NMC kicking in after this season. They are going to struggle to win with a contract like that on the books.
Love how the 'Peg is kicking ass and taking names this yr without PLD stinking up their lockeroom even with Kyle Connor out for like 2 months.

Interesting that we are one of the most penalized teams in games but one of the teams with the least amount of suspensions (and the suspension we did get was BULLSHIT!!!)

Edit: here's the whole list in case people don't want to click on the twitter/X link

Bruins up 5:0 not even middle of game. Jamie -3. I think I saw one goal he was on the ice but didn't felt like his fault

I know that they’re not good to begin with and are dealing with a myriad of other injuries, but in the 11 games they’ve played without Bedard since January 5th, the Blackhawks have scored 15 goals. They’ve been shut out in 4 of their last 6 games, 3 of their last 4 including tonight. Pretty impressed by that level of offensive ineptitude

How about the run Edmonton is on? It's pretty insane

They've completely flipped the tables on LA
I didn't felt it was so drastic, but IMO it was always inevatible that they'll turn it around. Not the first good team to go through desperate slump. IMO, the champions usually go through some adversity throughout the year. Wouldn't be surprised if they make a deep run this time.

But yeah, LA keeps falling. They must be one of the worst teams in the league in this past stretch. They will turn it around as well at somr point, but defo far from the level that Edmonton. LA roster is just not that good

oilers will still lose in the first or second round. no way their goaltending and D will continue to play this well in the postseason
