if it was a substance abuse or legal issue, we would have already heard about it. the fact that they're keeping it under wraps really just adds more steam to the rumors being discussed. the only other scenario that'd make sense is if there was an altercation between perry and a teammate or coach which may have turned ugly, but even then i would think we'd know about it

Whether the rumored reason is true or not (I have my own opinions), the thing this saga proves more than any other is just how bad the NHL as a whole, from the league to individual franchises, is at PR.

It's interesting to me how hard the ranks are shutting down the obviously fake rumor with Perry but allowed the equally laughably fake and disproven rumor that Zegras said something about a guy's dead dad fester and it still gets brought up (now with a league wide conspiracy theory) without repercussions. Blackhawks truly get coddled in all levels of the league.

This is stuff that makes HF boards different than Twitter/X. When people post trade rumors or speculation that’s fine. But a players personal actions off the ice is a totally different ball game.

After the Zegras and Stecher incident, and all the garbage reports on Twitter, i made it a mission that HF doesn’t turn into another Twitter/x. I actually asked to have the zegras thread locked and it was, because of that very reason. One of the reasons I took the global mod gig. Where I can help keep that stuff at bay.

So I apologize if it’s strict but libel is a big deal here and it’s not rumors saying oh I think the Ducks are going to trade so and so or stuff that happens on the ice between players.

My guess is he stays if the Wings continue to stay in playoff contention. If they fade he was probably promised they would move him to a contender at the TDL.
