San Jose’s next game is against Pittsburgh, which is coincidentally also the funniest possible team for them to beat.
Yeah it’s a little concerningAll I know is that the law of averages says they’re eventually gonna beat someone and we play them November 12th at home.
The question of those games for me is always, how much Quinn Hughes is in Olen Zellweger? This Sharks game is sadder than any Ducks game I’ve watched over the last few years. Not even a hint of positivity.
They will at least get one heck of a player in this years draft. The top 3-5 look very good.San Jose probably won't challenge for the playoffs until 2030. We were a bad hockey team, but San Jose is on a whole other level right now.....and at least we had quite a promising prospect pool.
San Jose have almost nothing outside of Eklund (who I'm not convinced ends up as anything more then a 2nd line forward) and Smith it seems like. It's going to take at least 3 more drafts for them to stock up and then have the young players actually develop. Grim for them.
My first thought is that they are sending him down BECAUSE the team is a dumpster fire and they don't want him around the negativity.I started watching the Sharks game to see what was wrong with the team this year. After a while I started looking to see if they were doing anything right. They really should have Thrun up to at least give him NHL experience. He cannot possibly be worse than all of their other defensemen.
Poor Thrun signed with the Sharks thinking he would make the squad this year.My first thought is that they are sending him down BECAUSE the team is a dumpster fire and they don't want him around the negativity.
The less charitable thought is that they want to tank hard, know he'll improve the team, and don't want that.
The even less charitable thought is that they're trying to save themselves money in future contract negotiations.
Speaking of bad teams, I’m watching SJ now and it’s kind of depressing. Lower bowl already emptier than any of the worst games I saw last year at the Ponda.
They’ve been playing better than the results would indicate. Their PP won’t be terrible forever. Still, they aren’t exactly in a position where they can just wait for things to even out.The Pens are so f***ed. They are just lucky the 1st that went to SJ was protected, but the 1st SJ gets next year will forsure be a top 10 pick.
They are paying Letang 5 years until age 40...
The are paying Malkin 3 years until 39...
I hope Crosby retires after this contract so they can actually rebuild, but damn it is going to get ugly.
There were a lot of empty seats that I saw while watching on television. I think that it was emptier than I have ever seen the Honda Center.Just watched Shannon's (The Hockey Guy) breakdown of the Sharks, and he mentioned the number. Reportedly 10,719 in PAID attendance last night, that's staggering
With only 3 years left I am sure they can dump Malkin on another team. The Pens are so f***ed. They are just lucky the 1st that went to SJ was protected, but the 1st SJ gets next year will forsure be a top 10 pick.

Sharks have had horrible attendance post-Covid, they'll have back to back sub 14k attendance seasons which we haven't had since the early 00's.Just watched Shannon's (The Hockey Guy) breakdown of the Sharks, and he mentioned the number. Reportedly 10,719 in PAID attendance last night, that's staggering
Great explanation and detail. Reading this I couldn't help but think our scouts have similar thought process when we valued Leo and Mason the past few years who were playing men but did it not because their physical tools (albeit they're considered bigg-ish vs their peers). While picking them, we surprised people. Kind of similar but opposite to what MTL did.
Anyways, this was interesting to read and watch.
