Adam Johnson a former Pittsburgh prospect took a skate to the throat during this game. Seeing unconfirmed rumbles on Facebook and X that he died. There's video out there of the incident but I don't want to post it out of respect, I'm sure one can find it readily on their own.

Absolutely horrible if it's true, and also completely infuriating. There have been multiple incidents in the NHL of people getting cut but nobody has died yet, and that alone has made it clear that they would not be made mandatory until that happened. Yet it was always in the back of everyone's minds that at some point somebody would get their throat slashed and not survive. Its horrific and preventable and it's disgusting it was ever allowed to get to this point.
I just hope for him and his friends/family/teammates that he makes it. Good lord what a nightmare.

it won't ever happen, but there's no reason not to make neck guards mandatory

Much like helmets, and then visors, the NHL(and other pro leagues evidently) is behind the ball, maybe one day they’ll get there.

Won't happen because NHLPA is too busy extracting few more millions for the players instead of actually protecting them.

That poor guy. I hope he stays off the internet and seeing what some people are saying. No amount of frame by frame interpretation is going to bring Adam Johnson back. Some things are best left unsaid and I hope Matt Petgrave is given the support he needs to heal as a person.

The TNT broadcast just said the Oilers' bottom 6 does not have a single point all season. Janmark, Holloway, McLeod, Ryan, Erne, and Brown have a combined 0 points in 40 games.
Missed on air comment… only 7-8 games this season… did they include last year?

Connor Brown can’t be there much longer. Might end up being a giant nothingburger, but this is game 8 for him, if he plays 2 more, he somehow accrues a $3.25M signing bonus that’s really gonna hamstring their ability to do anything next offseason.

The 6 players have played a combined 40 games this season.
Don't really like to kick players while they're down but Huberdeau at 10.4m could really turn into a horrendous deal. Like up there for "worst contracts in NHL history" bad
Tkachuck and Gaudreau had treiliving over a proverbial barrel. And the result of that was huberdeaus contract. Thank god they got weegar with it. But it seems like Huberdeau is never sniffing 10 mil value on the ice. Guess that is good for us in Anaheim. Nothing like a darnell nurse like contract for calgary

Calgary should have traded Tkachuck and Gaudreau for futures and prospects instead of competing.

Crazy thing is that it might not even be the worst contract Calgary has. 7m a year for an average 2c like Kadri is bonkers.
Hilarious Calgary were duped by two players having massive career outlier years and rewarded them with huge contracts taking them through their age 37 seasons and basically making the franchise irrelevant until the 2030's.
Yeah. 17 mil if their combo production doesnt improve is a heavy anchor w a long rope
