Missed it, what did he say?

That he thought 7 was a game too many, that the fine for Chara was okay by implying the crosscheck to Gallagher's neck was warranted (Gallagher did it first) and not that bad (oh, he got some of his shoulder) which the host thought was not the case. And he thought Kane's play was dirty and instead of dealing with the implication of the biased nature of the disciplinary committee, which we know from past communication reveals is a "thing" with this league, he just goes on about Kane being angry at a third party for a suspension. He missed the point of Kane's communication completely. The double standard is alive and well in the NHL.

Kassian and Chara needed to get hammered for what they did.

Burke's line of reasoning was that everything at DOPS is great and fair, and has been fair under all the various iterations of it.

I'd love to see the referral emails from talking heads about who had it coming (which he implied Gallagher did) and whose face someone doesn't like. The Simon precedent wasn't even mentioned when discussing Kassian. The host pointed out how players are taught fundamentally to never, ever do that from a young age and Burke said something about how it wasn't that hard and hit a part of Cernak's chest that was protected by equipment.

What Kassian did was incredibly dangerous. Regardless of where he hit, it should have been 40 games. Simon precedent was set.

Chara should have been a few games. Doesn’t matter what Gallagher did.

DOPS should run a bit more like a legal body and not the boys at the bar bantering about games.

And I think your last point is what EKane’s point was in his rebuke of DOPS that Burke completely missed. It does occur like a bunch of guys who all know one another kvitching over a beer. And it’s not the most enlightened conversation either, it’s all about people who had it coming or who likes who and that’s not right.

i didn’t read what Kane said. Kane plays pretty clean compared to everyone else we’re talking about. Probably has a point.

Maybe it would be better if it wouldn't be former players, especially enforcers.

Doesn't even matter whether Kane is clean or dirty. His point is valid either way. The players can't reasonably modify their play so as to avoid suspensions when there's no rhyme or reason to the supplemental discipline the DOPS metes out.

It's just such a clown show.
