Bettman getting in doesn't bother me, he should get in based on the development and growth of the league in a business sense.

I just don't like him being inducted while he is still working as the commish. Have a waiting period like everyone else.

Didn't Scotty Bowman get in while still coaching?

How does Andersson compare to Barrett Hayton as a prospect?

I like Andersson considerably more, and liked him more coming off his draft year because he was playing against men.

I think the Yotes are hoping that lightening strikes twice and they have their version of Toews for the next generation.

Too bad for the Hawks he’s Arizona property.

Andersson, IMO, is more skilled with a higher upside.

It is crazy how we ended up with a better center, compared to Hayton who was picked higher in a deeper draft. The 2017 draft was quite disappointing form an elite-upside standpoint but we still came away with 2 great great prospects. I think there are only 1 or 2 players from the 2017 draft who would be considered a top-10 pick in 2018. Pettersson for sure

Casey mittlestadt #1 OA imo.

Haha, Freudian slip because I thought that's where he was more likely to go.

I’m not quite sure what to make of Andersson. I wasn’t fond of the selection, but he is so much better than his critics claim. He’s not a future #1 center, but he’s so much more than a 3C. It’s likely going to take another draft, if not two, for me to fully see where he fits in the puzzle. I do think he makes the Rangers this season. He’s part of the reason I have no problem moving Hayes if the return is exceptional.

Despite the wailing and teeth-gnashing at large, I’m very content with the Rangers’ 1st round picks the last two years. I want at least two 1sts in next year’s draft. I want more boom picks like this past draft.

This has nothing to do with anything..but as a tsn podcast listener...can I just say that I don't give a rats ass what Pierre McGuire thinks? I love the guys enthusiasm but I'll say that he knows basically nothing in terms of whats going on around the league so he's not an insider...he basically is filler..he talks and talks and speed out random facts about where a guy is from or where he played when he was 13...but in terms of actual content...the guy is basically worthless.

On the flip side Pierre lebrun is phenomenal....listening to him talk about hockey is a joy. Same thing with Elliot Friedman.

I totally agree with you. The TSN broadcast is always more fun to watch than NBC. The only exception, and I will probably be in the minority with this opinion, is Doc Emrick. Listening to him during games it great. I just can't stand Milbury, McGuire and Olczyk.

I have no problems with Keith Jones and JR

That may be possible, but if so I would also say that isn't the correct way in my eyes, although with coaches they can go unemployed and then be rehired by another team. I would imagine that is why there is no wait period for them, but a commissioner is not the same situation in my eyes. He isn't leaving his post and then coming back to the position.

I think the other part that irks me is that you have some other fall of fame caliber coaches that do not get consideration while they are active in the sport, and then the committees usually make those guys wait a little while after they retire. I mean should Joel Quiennville be elected in right now, or Mike Babcock? I am prob just sore bc of what happened to a guy like Pat Burns, who was made to wait and unfortunately died before he got that great moment, but an active employee of the league is getting in now even while his legacy will surely see more defining moments within the next 5 years when considering the next cba, the evolution of the leagues cte denial, expansion in Seattle, and possible relocation of one of his pet franchises.

Doc is a legend

JR is drunk any time he does a game in Vegas, I get some laughs out of that

Jones I get some laughs because he sounds like kermit the frog

The rest of that broadcast team can go f*** off. They are awful

The NHL was bigger in the US 25 years ago, thanks in no small part to the Rangers winning the cup.

The 2005 lockout, combined with the Rangers and other big market US teams not winning , really hurt the NHL's popularity in the US. Chicago being great helped a little.
This is just not true at all. Hockey's national footprint has grown along with revenues. Hockey does about half the revenue of MLB, 25 years ago it did closer to 10%. Television ratings, while still lagging NBA, are growing every year. There is much more evidence available.
