he will be there until the season is over (that's my understanding); which might be pretty soon as his team is on the bubble and might miss the playoffs. and even if they make it, they will likely be out soon and he gets to play this regular season.

So St Louis asked for a trade from the Lightning when he was left off Team Canada, I'm betting that's part of the reason why Yzerman is stepping down. It must have been terrible. Wonder how St Louis feels now?

Kind of ridiculous if you ask me. I get feeling slighted, but asking for a trade because of it? I thought he was better than that. As much as he is a great player, its not like Canada is hurting for offensive talent. This was an Olympic hockey team - not the All Star Game.

Not to mention, its not like Yzerman was making the only decisions there. Maybe Yzerman was the only guy who had St. Louis on the final roster, but everyone else in the room voted St. Louis off the island when it came down to the final selection. Sure, Yzerman has the final say, but I doubt he'd go against all those responsible for Team Canada.

I guess I could understand if we were talking about Team USA (or any other Olympic Team), but again - this was Team Canada. You're the best of the best if you're even considered to be on the squad.

Jeez, what happened?

They suck! J/K :)

Really though they've been dull to watch this season. Giroux is not beasting anymore. Getting rid of JVR was a horrible loss, IMO. The Schenn brothers aren't doing much, Hartnell is...well Hartnell. The bright spots are definitely Simmonds and who I love is Voracek stepping up, but their team doesn't feel like a threat to me. With Richards and Carter remember they went to the SCF in 2010? The pop and flash the Flyers have had is fizzled out to me.

I think Montreal is going to get interesting. I don't see any reason for Markov to take that rumored 1/$6m offer, and I think people are deluding themselves a bit thinking he won't get three and four year offers on the open market. And if Markov's reputed want is 3/$5.45m, I'm not sure why Montreal isn't jumping all over that.

So, do they up their offer or do they move Markov before the deadline to get more value back in a trade?

Apparently they aren't trading him even if he's not re-signed before the deadline. Just read that somewhere, can't remember where now.. :/

I don't blame them; they're in a playoff push and he could help a lot.
