Rumors are Edmonton and Los Angeles are heavily negioating Sam Gagner for Kyle Clifford. Doesn't LA have Anze Kopitar, Mike Richards, and Jarret Stoll as their top nine centres?

Gagner might play the wing for them, they also could probably desperately use his speed. I think they are an ideal match, someone will shift out to wing and that might be ganger himself. He also will enjoy playing with the kind of size they put around him.

Oilers never-ending youth movement starts and ends with leadership. I don't think there's enough leadership between RNH, Hall, Eberle and Yakupov, and there's absolutely no Toews or Landeskog in that group. I think it speaks volumes when a non-star player comes in from free agency and takes your C. Their defense also severely lacks a #1 go-to guy that can play in every situation. Good players, poorly built team.

Perron was a good pickup, but same there, not much of a leader.

The main difference between Edmonton and Colorado, imo, is that one team has stocked up as much talent as possible, the other team has looked at the whole picture.

Still early, but fairly quiet on the trade front. If the action is going to pick up for the Islanders, offers need to improve.

Interesting. Maybe Vanek doesn't go anywhere today.

Good point Joe. I really think that Edmonton needs to look at the rebuild and decide if they want to keep all four of those guys. Moving one may be to their benefit, particularly if they move Eberle.

Kris Letang's condition is treatable with blood thinners and at this point is not believed to be career threatening. http://pens.pe/1jkmxmE

Richards
Gagner
Stoll

which is pretty unreal

Very sad news. I really like Letang as a player, even though I despise the Penguins.

Edmonton has a lot of problems. Up front you have one diementional kids for the most part. Like you said, no real leaders. You've got a few I suppose, but nothing major. Then you look at the kids, and most of them lack two-way games. Yakky has been handled so poorly. He was put in a ****** situation.

Defense is a joke. Their best defenseman may be Justin Schultz, who is a #3. They lack a top pairing defenseman. We ***** about our defense, but we have three defenseman that are better than Edmonton's best. Possibly four.

Goaltending has been ****, but you really can't blame them. Breezy and Scrivens have actually looked fine.

Yeah apparently they'd go

Kopitar
Richards

Real deep. They could improve their wings, though.

I'm not sure the return would be there for Eberle. I think they need a better top6 center, and a better blueline. And they're going to need a goalie now (though I assume they are going to re-sign Scrivens since they traded for him). I don't trust their GM to be able to re-work that team, though.

Interesting. Maybe Vanek doesn't go anywhere today.

Snow is in a tough situation. He has to save face from already giving up assets to land Vanek and yet Vanek has now turned down multiple big money offers and told 2 separate teams he'd like to move on and test free agency. Whoever trades for him has to think they're a good enough team that Vanek wants to re-sign with them and have the cap space to do it.

I think Snow is going to get significantly less than what he wants for Vanek, and a key piece in the trade is going to be an extra asset conditioned on whether or not Vanek re=signs.

i think the ducks will land him
- a 2014 1st rd pick plus a goalie(fasth, andersen)

then this will allow or force the kings to land moulson

You did just pick their best young leader in my opinion, some will argue Hall, but Eberle has a lot of leadership qualities.

Honestly I think it was a mistake not to make him or Hall captain. These kids are the team as they set it up, the stop gap of Ference wasn't really necessary. They have set this team up like this, but they give these kids the ability to hide and blame youth.

Landeskog is the captain in Colorado, Duchene or ROR has had a letter on at times depending on health, they aren't messing around with these guys are the future and the present and should act like it.

Now the Oilers have some of the young guys with A's but I don't see the harm with putting them in the position of power. If Hall is the captain make it so, Toews, Yzerman, Crosby the aforementioned Avs situation.

Yes they could use signings and trades that help augment this group, but I honestly would give the younger guys even more ownership. They are the way out, if you want to trade one go for it, but pretending it is anything other than the wonder kids team and they need to lead them where they are going is a mistake and a disservice to their development in my opinion.

Letang's stoke isn't supposed to end his career, but still scary. Him and his family are in my thoughts.
