Around The NHL #13

Well if y'all have seen it by now, Salt Lake City has officially requested the NHL to open an expansion team application.

"But they could host a team as early as next season"

I just saw it in The Athletic, of all places. Oh well, going skiing tomorrow until Monday so will be easier to avoid the inevitable chatter. Plus I've still got BoH on ignore.

for anyone with free articles remaining:

Everyone outside of Arizona yelling "Just move the Coyotes!" but completely forgetting that Atlanta is on the same track as Salt Lake, and there's a likely $1 billion dollar expansion fee apiece for those markets. But yea, the owners are gonna settle for moving one franchise.

There is no way in hell they pass up that money. My guess: the same year the Yotes open the new barn, we go to 34 teams.

I’ve always figured the end goal is 36 teams.

So you go with SLC, Atlanta, and Houston or Austin. The fourth team is one of Portland, KC, QC, or San Diego.

I have zero knowledge but found this tweet kinda interesting???

He took a lot of shit for that tweet and had to take it down.
Different situation but it reminds me of the people calling out Bissonnette back in September when he went after Babcock but was found to be accurate a couple days later.

If they do start an expansion effort in the near term, it'll be SLC and Atlanta. From what I remember, Atlanta is building a huge TED-style development downtown that includes a hockey arena.

Friedman, who is the man regarding scuttlebutt states that SLC would not have done this w/o NHL having condoned and that it's a message to the Coyotes. Seems a battle of the plan B's.

Who's your money on?

2032?

It's hilarious that the NHL tried to cover up the coverup with SLC. There is/was no way it was going to draw enough attention.

PR wise, this has really been a disaster season for the NHL ... Pride Tape mess, Shane Pinto, Mike Babcock, Bedard injured, TV deal is still a mess, Dorion's f***up, too many Outdoor games, Ovi is in the shitter, surely more things too, and now this.

Five NHL players will soon be charged for gang raping a young girl. There is video evidence. Hockey Canada covered it up. The NHL is currently deflecting attention away from this news.

I'm only writing this in retaliation to the NHLs deflection attempts.

Unless I have missed it I have not read anywhere about video evidence?? I have read there was a video from a 2003 incident that people have reported seeing. And hockey Canada reported the 2018 incident to police as soon as they learned of a complaint.

The players filmed it.

It's not downtown.... it's up north in Alphretta. But it's like "where the fans are".

Thinking further, Corey Perry is another mess for the league.

If you’re into hockey documentaries, Amazon Prime just dropped one about Alexandre Daigle.

Haven’t watched it myself yet but looks interesting.
