Around The NHL #13

Just heard about the Mike Ribeiro accusations/trial for the first time. Wow! Just what the NHL needs.
I was looking at this thinking it was old news because I remember reading through court docs many years ago about an alleged assault involving him. The update is, he settled with the nanny (she was under age) he allegedly assaulted back then.

However, what's news now appears to be another 3 alleged, victims unrelated to the nanny situation.

Sidenote of related or unrelated pattern...Ribeiro had 3pts in 7gp for Canada in the 2000 WJC.

I didn't share a link because all the articles I saw were days old when I came across this story. Thought I was probably the last to know, so I didn't share a link. But yeah, he's on trial right now for several more sexual assault accusations. This article is from 3 hours ago.

Edit:
I saw the comments of one article where someone said (loose quote here) "Hockey culture and rape go hand in hand, that's why I would never let my kid play hockey." Ignorant comment but this stuff has an effect on the leauge's reputation, even if it's irrational.

Has anyone skated on synthetic ice? Looks very realistic. How does it feel?
It's been a while - and the technology may be better now - but there was in the mid 00s a training facility at 32nd/Shea or Cactus here with two half sheets, one of which was synthetic ice (it eventually got replaced with 'real'). It's...weird, to be sure, kind of like a very hard plastic. You'd kind of bump around like on very hard ice, but right after a public session.

In 99, or 00 I went to hockey trade show in Vegas, specifically to skate on a sheet. Unlike DOM’s experience, it was new and not worn (skated on much previously). It had more drag than ice, but was surprisingly realistic. I never went through with opening training facilities for other reasons, which seems to have been the right call, given the lack of consumer interest I’ve seen since.

It's not just this case, Mosby has written negative posts about Canada and Canadian reams for a decade and I'm gonna guess zero positive ones.
It’s okay, even if true he’ll never supersede the myriad of overzealous flag wavers that are Canadian.
