Small town SK success has Oilers new Coach coming from same hometown as Connor Ingram. Pretty impressive for a place with less than 400 population.

What proof is there that McDavid is a terrible leader? McDavid didn't construct this roster, that's on Holland, but a good leader will somehow lead the troops to a better showing. McDavid may have been given the C a couple of years early, but maybe he showed great leadership abilities in junior.
He is a goal suck. For all the talent he has he can be allergic to playing anything that resembles defense. Trouble is he is so good offensively that when he is scoring at 2 ppg pace no one cares. When he is not, the team is in trouble.

Everyone on the team knows that they only go as far as McDavid (and Draisatl) carry them. hard to get everyone to buy in to any kind of team system when they just rely on McDrai to do their thing.

There are also the rumours/innuendo that he has vetoed players being sent to the minors thus over ruling the coach and GM. He lobbied for Nurse to be signed to that awful contract. Now his agent is the president. His junior coach is his coach.

Plus. he is whiny and he loses his cool too often for a leader.

Brilliant hockey player. Needed to be surrounded by a strong leadership group rather than being handed the whole organization.

OK, you are the expert. Im just a keyboard warrior.
He's plus 70 in last 3 seasons. Would you like him to become a checking center? He was just on TSN saying he knew nothing about coaching change.....do you really think he is asked to approve who the14th forward is? Players sign in Edmonton just to get to play with him.....

I'm no expert in anything but I'm smart enough your post was unadulterated BS

That is what you inferred from my post?

We were discussing whether he is a leader or not. I say NOT.

Amazingly talented (probably top 5 all time when it is said and done) does not define a leader.

As for the unadulterated BS, I said "There are also the rumours/innuendo..." I am not making this up. Just commenting on it.

He will end up going on a 50 point in 20 game tear and the team will win a bunch of games in a row and get back into a playoff spot and everyone will be in awe of his greatness. He will lead the team in that regard.

Here was how your post started

"He is a goal suck. For all the talent he has he can be allergic to playing anything that resembles defense."

People allergic to defence don't end up plus 70. The rest of your post was similar drivel with zero basis in reality.

I see a Team trying to keep their Star and make him happy. I see nothing like what you wrote?

So what you're saying is the F.O.McD Era has begun.......

This sounds like someone who doesn't like McDavid and/or the Oilers. I think McDavid is a fine leader, but this year we will find out how good a leader he is.

McDavid is the best player in the NHL, greatest on offense by a fair margin but average on D. The Coyotes would die to have a center like him. Now, to expect him to transform his D play into Kopitar is asking too much of him, thats not who he is. Oiler fans are so lucky to be gifted McDavid and Drai, Coyotes got Strome and Hayton:(.....

It seems like its more important for the Oilers to do whatever it takes to make McDrai happy so they both don't want to leave, that is the goal. If winning a cup becomes a goal, they will have to trade one of them, that could fix their D problems instantly with the return they would get for either one of them. Until that happens, Oilers will have more of the same results.

To say the Oilers would have to trade one of McDrai before they can win a couple is foolish. RNH would be traded before those two in my opinion, and I would think he could fetch a real good return.

Do they have to prove intent or merely demonstrate negligence?
I'm no Lawyer but here is England's definition:

Manslaughter

Manslaughter is primarily committed in one of three ways:

  1. Killing with the intent for murder but where a partial defence applies, namely loss of control, diminished responsibility or killing pursuant to a suicide pact.
  2. Conduct that was grossly negligent given the risk of death, and did kill ("gross negligence manslaughter"); and
  3. Conduct taking the form of an unlawful act involving a danger of some harm that resulted in death ("unlawful and dangerous act manslaughter").

Appears that only #2 would apply, but considering his defense will be he was merely off balance and body checks generally don't result in death.

Again I'm no Lawyer and didn't see the incident but have read more than one person's view that this looks more intentional than accidental.

My interpretation of the video is that he did intentionally throw his leg up to make contact, but I'm sure the argument will be it was not intentional to have his skate blade hit the opponent.
