Not sure what it was, but he just rubbed me the wrong way. Probably his play, personality, looks, actions etc.

I have a couple of friends in Canada that have barns. They are full of shit, so he should fit right in.
We all have a player or 2 that we just can't come around on. It's human nature

He works for the Wild. He doesn't have an official title yet but it will be in player development.
Perfect role. “Stop taking everything so seriously. Hakuna Matata, ya know? Chillax bro. Grab a cold one.”

Their GM is something pretty special too. This should all end well for the Wild.

One of the most interesting threads I read recently was on Stepan's retirement in the Rangers forum. Post after post about what a gamer he was.

Not sure if that was true at one time and is now not, or we simply got the inferior pre-retirement country club version here in Arizona as is often the case.

I even say this as someone who thinks the trade for him is still defensible, but he's a very bewildering dude.

I happened to be at the 2017 Yotes@Rangers game which was his first return to MSG. They really, really loved him there.

And really, he was fine his first year here - numbers in line with his Rangers numbers...it was only that second season when he turned....28  ... that he seemed to hit a wall. It may be that the first year of RT sucked the life out of him (as it did with so many of us)

RT gave him everything and then some and Stepan shit the bed. I think Stepan sucked the life out of the team. BA saw this, and I believe getting rid of Stepan was BA's first trade.

6 pack a night during the season doesn't lend itself to NHL longevity....

And you're right Ranger fans loved him and many still do. 22 goals and 57 points were career highs....but scored a number of huge goals including a Game 7 OT winner.
