And if he takes out Scheifele or Morrisey with a head shot there goes our season. The NHL should deal with this crap as it has gotten ridiculous already.

The players association will protect poor Rempe at all costs. Hate to lose a pay cheque.

The only path forward is you have your own douche bag to take out tiny Adam Fox and end his season. There is no protection but there is the threat of reciprocity.

One step forward, two steps back

Somehow Bones and PoMo, two coaches whose decisions are derided by certain people around here, are coaching two of the top 4 teams in the league right now according to point percentage

Yet some posters still feel like they know better

Maybe of we let some of all y'all run a team, you'd go 82-0 with a xGF% of 100

I have no idea why this league is still so far behind the other leagues with regards to protecting their stars.

Avs colour man just likened playing in Florida to being a Ferrari and playing in Calgary being a Chevy, I wonder what he thinks Winnipeg is.

It’s the inherent conflict of interest the PA has. They cannot defend the attacker and the attacked.

How does the league protect the players when the players association is fighting against it?

Sure, but don't the other PA's also have that same conflict? It seems those leagues have been able to institute rule changes and discipline processes to protect their stars. They have correctly figured out its the stars that drive most of the revenue. Somehow the NHL is still years behind.

I don’t think NFL players union has near the power the NHL PA has. PA doesn’t like suspensions and loss of wage. Baseball and basketball aren’t really as dangerous for cheap shots.

Then maybe suspend and keep wages. That would put teams in a pickle cap wise if they employ a cheap shot artist and he's out half a year and they can't fill his roster spot.or get cap relief. PA can complain all they want but their player is still getting paid.

So if you can't hit the player in the wallet enough then discourage teams further from dressing them.

Could also start fining teams and coaches for purposefully employing these players.

Im my alternate world players would need to carry liability insurance and their insurance has to cover people they injure that have to miss work if it’s a cheap shot.
