He was never as bad as he is this year, he doesn't really do pbp but rather a running laboured commentary of the game with constant chuckling. I wish that SN would stop taking the Bruins feed all the time. On the other end of the spectrum is Oilers pbp guy Jack Michaels who won't shut up and goes into his over the top shtick when the Oilers score.

I haven't heard him in a while to be fair.

Wild lose again, 7-3.

Not that they are a threat in the Central at this point, but after that nonsense on Snet about Hartman 'sending a message for the playoffs' and other crap, their downward trajectory pleases me. Almost unhealthy so. :)
Their fans are so delusional they think the only reason they are struggling this year is injuries. A team doesn't fire their coach because of bad injury luck.

Yup a good night for us in the Central last night, still ahead of Colorado now with 3 games in hand. Ahead of Dallas by 5 points with a game in hand.
I'd love to face the Avs in round one of the playoffs. Bednar has decided to condense that team down to two forwards and two defensemen, and I have no idea how that doesn't end up killing them in the postseason. Sure, they're missing Lehkonen and Nuke for legitimate reasons, but it blows my mind how they don't have 18 skaters who they trust to play any kind of minutes.

Looks like the fans Leafs are getting out the pitchforks.
I saw a Leafs podcast ... "Zero chance of the Leafs winning the Cup"
They put out a stat that was unbelievable .... Leafs only have 13 regulation wins that ranks in the bottom 8 in the league.
If they just sign one more one-dimensional player for 11 mill I am sure that will fix things.

If the Leafs had to overpay one player they should have just overpaid Matthews and found guys around him. The guy doesn't need $11 million players to feed him the puck to score.

Ray Ferraro said on the Kings broadcast that Dubois is playing the game too "gentle" for a guy that is 6'4 225 lbs
Assuming leafs couldn’t trade marker or nylander as no team was willing to pay $11 million per year.

They really set the bar with their past contracts.
Funny how there is a premium salary to play in Toronto. Makes sense as you couldn’t pay me enough bto watch that team.

You may be right. I suspect they honestly never even considered it. They would have discussed it for sure. But I truly don't think they ever had any intention outside of paying the core 4 plus Reilly and moneypucking the rest of the roster

Considering the return PLD got who is objectively worse than Nylander and Marner, I imagine they could have gotten a defenseman a lesser forward and a pick for him at minimum. Seattle which has great depth but no true stars would maybe consider giving up Burakovski, Oleksiak, Ryker Evans and a 2nd for Nylander sign and trade.

I was wrong to call Matthews overpaid, the guy is so good that he just needs credible NHL bodies around him to score goals. You don't need to surround him with $11 million players for him to be successful.

Was on TheScore app looking at various league leaders. Interesting how they classify Ehlers on this list…

In the immortal words of Howard Cosell, "now, you're just being truculent"

Yeah Edwards is a super-homer clown, but I really do enjoy this call:

If a commentator was even half that over-the-top at a pro wrestling Pay Per View, I'd elbowsmash grannies out of the way to be the first signatory on the petition that would ban that clown for life.

.. and this is a total moment here, but I'm going to be honest. I've long, LONG ridiculed Torts for being some Jurassic era caveman. But here, he's just casually mentioning the mathematically-certified optimal starting goalie load (2/3 - 1/3) and acknowledging how pushing that pushes athletes to be too tired.. and I'm like.. did someone throw down a couple Pokeballs and evolve Torts to his ultimate form when I wasn't looking??

Legit no snark, that is awesome to hear, at last, the first trickling of mathematically established facts coming into the limelight -- and from Torts, no less!

"From the mouths of babes", and all that.

So who do we hope gets crushed tonight the Leaves and the Cannots?

ALWAYS great to see a Laf Loss but a Nukhead loss would be nice as we are contending with them for 1st in the West/league.

Especially knowing we play the Lafs in a back to back in a few days.

I say smoke the leaves!

I want us to stay on top of the league, so it's a Canucks loss for me today.
