Unfortunately, they are playing much better than they were in October-November. If Laine didn't fire up the Blue Jackets with his comments, I think they would be on a 6 games winning streak.

They had Laine coming back from injury, they acquired a RHD in Carrier and changed their back-up goalie. They are doing things to fix/improve on their weaknesses, meanwhile Hamonic plays in our Top-4, we have no quality backup behind Ullmark (Merilainen gave up last night though!) and our scoring depth at ES is questionable

I thought MSL had a bit of the DJ problem and they were not going to be able to play 2-way hockey but it isn't clear still. I think we'll still be able to finish ahead of them this season, but as I predicted, they are getting closer to be a real competitor for a playoffs spot. So until the Bruins, Lightning and/or Leafs regress, it's starting to get really crowded for 4 playoffs spot (or 5?)
I have absolute zero concerns about the Habs. The Sens are better down the middle, have better D and better goaltending. The Habs have some wingers who can finish but overall we have a better future. Staios fixed our top 3 roster issues in a single offseason, I expect him to improve the team again this offseason.

He would be an upgrade over some of the bottom 6
Nope

Dallas should have lost a 2nd round pick for their breach of the CBA. Big competitive advantage practicing the 26th while Minnesota had to fly in on game day. A fine is insufficient.

I mean, it's something like 95% of people 15 and over do at this point,
According to Co-pilot, it's 98% of 18+ in North America. Perhaps an assumption on my end, but I'd guess if you rule out the 80+ folks, statistically it's 100%

It’s Dallas so a minimal fine will be max

I hope they trade Zibanejad soon for his sake, Rangers fans have turned on him and need a scapegoat

hmmm you better be right but weren't you also burying your head in the sand regarding Dorion when I was telling you that he was harmful to the team?

If the Habs are no concern, why did we only finish 2 pts ahead last season in our year #7 while it was their year #3? Or why are we only 5 pts ahead in our best season in 8 years despite most of their best pieces being very young or even with the team yet. Hutson (20 y/o), Slafkovský (20 y/o), Demidov (19 y/o), Fowler (20 y/o), Hage (18 y/o), Reinbacher (20 y/o), Beck (20 y/o), Roy (21 y/o), Mailloux (20 y/o), etc

Do you expect our team to peak much higher? Where would that come from? Maybe I am being pessimistic but Dorion with his terrible management pretty much destroyed our propensity to improve. Staios will have to do more miracles ala Ullmark trade. He needs to steal a forward someway somehow

You don’t think any of it is warranted?

He’s on pace for 14 goals this year and he’s currently a -21 which is worst on the team and 3rd worst in the entire league.

Second worst on the Rangers is Lafreniere with a -14.

He’s well below his usual shot production and he’s shooting at 7.6%.

He has twice as many giveaways as takeaways for the first time in his career.

He has 14 hits in total in his 35 games played. Every single player on the Sens has more than that (aside from Matinpalo) including Perron who has only played 9 games.

Meanwhile, he’s 4th on the team in PP icetime and was only dumped from the top unit in the last game.

He’s playing like a total flake for the bargain price of $8.5 million and he still has 5 years left on his contract.

Meanwhile, our fans go berserk if Brady Tkachuk doesn’t back check hard enough.

I think it’s pretty clear that the Rangers aren’t bad in spite of Zibanejad but in fact in large part because of Zibanejad.

Sure, you can gamble on a change of scenery but I have the feeling that far more of those scenarios fail than result in a sudden resurgence.

Update: Sorry, he’s now a -22.

This is absolutely blowing up in Vancouver right now by the way.
Looks like Pettersson is available
Allvin went on blast basically, Not sure what you guys would offer, or how seriously you would be interested, He would obviously need a Haul.
But, just thought I would share and get your guys opinions!
Not everyday a 90+ Center with great Defensive abilities becomes available.

Thoughts?

All things considered, I just don’t see a fit for Ottawa to make a deal for a guy like Pettersson … and neither do I see the need. Maybe more importantly… No cap space.

With Stutzle, Norris, Pinto at center Ottawa won’t be looking to add there. We need a right shot D and a top 6 winger in the best of worlds but if Staios adds it’ll be some more “lowkey” adds, similar to the Jensen, Amadio, Perron type moves.

11.6M is just way too rich for that player and the team.

I’m sure plenty of teams will be interested by I see legit 0 chances Ottawa would be in on that.

I'd be open to trying him on Stu's wing, but then I realize even McDrai couldn't get him scoring.

He’d be a decent bottom 6 checking line forward. The way I see it is if he comes in they would send Reinhart back to Belleville and he could move around the bottom 6 and provide some speed and tenacity.

Wouldn’t be mad if he was picked up but I have a feeling Staios is just not the type to pick up someone if he thinks he has options internally… which he does.

Good for you, gotta keep that meddling government out of your affairs. Unfortunately your sim'less cell will still send it's IMEI to towers so that emergency 911 calls can be made, you should probably store it in a Faraday box until you have the time to open it up and remove any internal antenna.

I’m quite aware of this, I have used the Cell phone to use Waze and google maps when traveling over the past year, and have it hooked up to my infotainment system, in my vehicle…

The Habs prospect pool is highly rated but they are still magic beans. I think Demidov will be excellent but the rest, I’ll believe it when I see it.

I expect Staios to improve this team substantially again this coming offseason. He had a phenomenal first offseason.
