So... stop right there. Do you really think there is only one possible explanation for these small number of failing teams? You can't possibly come up with any other cause?
I have combed through NHL. NBA, NFL, MLB, WBNA history. I am 60 years old, nearing 61. So, I have seen 46-47 years of the above sports.
I have never seen and have never come across data that points at something, as clear as this does.
I have posted about 6-7 replies. If you have the patience read through. Each has tons of information.
The pattern is undeniable, the 6-9 year period of 2015-202, has produced some of the worst failures to relaunch teams that I have ever seen. And I mean in all 5 sports. With relatively little exception, teams that have based their rebuilds on players acquired in the Gen Z era have struggled and have failed to climb.
Those that have, have done so, by abandoning the Gen Z based rebuild and traded off, and FA signed older players. The most visible example is NJ devils.
In the NBA, many teams have jettisoned recent draft picks, for veterans. Many of whom are 35 and older.
Please, take time to read my posts beginning with the first one. Where I highlight Buffalo's shortcomings. It is a few pages back.
As for other causes? All causes contribute. But often enough, there is a central one. And unless you cure it, all others become nothing more than distractions.
Steven Stamkos and Victor Heddman where 20 and 19 and in seasons 2 and 3, when they lead Tampa out of the toilette and into the 3rd round. Ditto for a whole flock of high picks from 1967-2015 (ALL SPORTS), Now see 2015 to today, all sports.
The Dream Team at Olympics (Basketball). See their ages!!! Only the 1992 team was as old, but that was different. They rewarded guys who missed out on the 1980's.
19 year old LeBron, 19 year old Kobbie, 20 year old Shak. All accomplished a ton. Now see the crop from 2015 to today. Zion hardly plays, AJ Barret, hardly plays and is a mid pack guy.
Kappo Kakko, #2 over all pick, is a bench warmer. He is 24. Bitches like a child. Is angry at the Rangers for benching him (his youth!!!! a 24 year players, considers himself young in the NHL!!!!!).
Archie Manning took a beating in NOLA and carried them on his back, His son Payton took a beating in Indie and carried them on his back... His grandson Archie, cannot get the starting job at Texas. Take a look at his Grandfather, Uncle(s) (Payton and Eli) and see their resume.
