Bad ownership ruining another team. Interesting parallel to us in a lot of ways, with Sather keeping Dolan in check/Murray keeping Melnyk in check and Drury/Pierre doing their bidding once they were gone.

At least they have money to spend though. It's more like a half comparable. Senators situation was both insane owner, and being unwilling to spend as required. Double whammy disaster.

Yeah for sure. It’s also NY, they’ll be fine - players will be begging to play there anyway. But hopefully for this year it keeps them out of a playoff spot.

For sure. There's some advantages they can lean in to and they'll ultimately be fine.

I find the whole debacle a little silly. Players are up in arms about these tactics, but I don't see them waiving their NTC's and NMC's when they demand trades. Seems fair to me.

People shouldn’t be surprised at the return. Draft pedigree only takes you so far. Look at what guys like Puljujarvi, Filatov, Yakupov, etc. returned.

This is Kakko’s 6th season. He is what he is. And what he is is a younger, slightly premium version of Mike Amadio.

A useful player on your 3rd or 4th line. But that’s it. 14-15 minutes a night, won’t hurt you, but not a difference maker.

I think we need to look for a winger for Stu, but Kakko was definitely not the guy.

Kakko is a much much better version of Mike Amadio. The only reason there's a negative aura around him is because of draft position. The guy has averaged 33 pts per 82 games (mostly at ES) in the NHL despite starting at 18 y/o and being still only 23 y/o. Amadio is a 4th liner who was in a very good situation in Vegas, which got him a nice "retirement contract" and we fell for it. Kakko is not a bust/semi-bust like the guys you mentioned.

Kakko - Stutzle - Batherson would have been good but hard to break the Chuck Norris bath line

This is wild...two trades today and the only name I recognize is Kakko. Feels like half the names in this league changed over the last 2-3 seasons. Hard to keep up these days.

Carrier and Borgen have been solidly in the NHL for years. I think the reason you don't know them is because they play out West and were 4th round picks, not promoted like 1st or even 2nd round picks.

Speaking of that, another damn team helping out the Habs. Yes Carrier makes more than Barron but JB is completely useless. Carrier was very solid in his rookie season and a move like this could help him rebound nicely.

You have to keep in mind that unless we have an indication that we are going to be able to remain in LTI, we can probably only make one more big acquisition this season without moving a skater. That's assuming we can dump Forsberg to Carolina without taking back cap.

So while Kakko might be a good gamble for a 3rd, if we go after Kakko then we are a lot less likely to be able to add a D.

Why would we want to add a D before a forward? We need to remove one and his name makes think of a gin tonic with a ham taste. Also Zub needs to be healthy (or be moved). But to add depth, go after a cheap guy whop can move the puck. I would say a Brannstrom but it seems that we are infatuated with size, so anybody else that is bigger.

Hate to do this but Greig for Peterka?

I like Greig more than most but can't see the Sabres doing that. JJP scored 27 goals in his rookie season.

NO.. I am worried that are two best players are:

Jensen 34/35
Ulmark 31

Not that I usually understand your posts, but this jumped at me. 31 y/o is the age most goalies PEAK. And Jensen while rebounding very nicely this season, is NOT our best player lol. The guy has been a #4 or #5 D-man his whole career and is now 34 y/o

Our 2 expected best players by a comfortable margin are 22 y/o, please stop this non-sense.
