Micheal Jackson.Little boy blue who?
How do you know they didn’t attempt too? By all accounts, they did try but teams were asking for our top prospects like willanderThe Blues resurgence coincides with them trading for Fowler. Imagine where this team would be right now if management had attempted to fix the defence before the season was a write off, instead of trotting out Juulsen and Desharnais to lose games night after night.
The fact the Oilers couldn't see what was a strength with some speed and penalty killing and let it all go for aged vets who loooong ago scored at a decent rate, is shameful. If they had simply stuck with their guys, they'd be a threat this season. Instead, they're first or second round fodder.Holloway was absolutely beast mode in the last 15-20 or so games.
STL basically got a top line player for 3rd round pick and 2.29mil
yes it's truly insane.
Actually had Oiler fans arguing with me about this in the summer when i said i couldn't believe how they would be willing to lose so much play driving and speed and a developing top4 Dman and then i thought Skinner and Arvidsson would at least score 40-50pts a piece.
It's been an absolute disaster. Nothing like refusing to trade your 1st round picks to get rid of crippling contracts and get useful players to try and win then developing them get them right to the point where they are going to help huge and then lose them for a couple much worse picks
They have actually sabotaged 2 of the best players of a generation from winning. its actually kinda sad
indeed. should have targed or at least traded for marcus petterson earlier. The Blues resurgence coincides with them trading for Fowler. We aren't going to catch the blues at this point getting a better draft position is more desirable but also unlikely.Well, at least the Flames (and UHC) lost and the Oilers are getting shitkicked. Not the best night OOT, but could be worse.
Every team has problems of letting players go that go on to bigger things in other organizations, Forsling and OEL come to mind recently for us.Yeah. In fairness to the Oilers, I never thought Skinner and Arvidsson would be this bad. Even Henrique is having unusually dismal season. At least from a productive standpoint. No idea if he's contributing elsewhere but I somehow doubt it.
It really does highlight how incredible the dynasty runs were for Crosby, Kane and Toews. McDavid and Draisaitl are looking and more like they'll go the Ovie route of a single cup win eventually. And with how poorly the Oilers have been run, even that's up for debate.
I think McDavid stays, but you have to imagine he's giving it some serious thought. Especially if they get bounced early.
Dang, let the exit from the CHL begin.
Misa to BU and Lindstrom to Michigan State.
Definitely pro's and con's for staying or going.
I can understand it from the kids. They move from the chl where they would be part of the older half of the league to easily the young half in the ncaa so that they can continue to challenge themselves.Dang, let the exit from the CHL begin.

While the NCAA has a much larger following and players will now get paid. Some have said for the best recruits upwards of 100k per year. NCAA only plays 40 games a year max for most. CHL you can get up to 80 or 90.Seems like such a no brainer to go NCAA route from my (a parent) POV. Get that higher education going while still playing high level hockey before turning pro.
My initial thought was that the chl would ultimately become a younger league, losing most of the players going into their draft +2 year. Basically age of a SO in college. We e seen a good number of kids score 100 points in that season and thus the challenge isn’t as great given they are among the oldest kids in the chl. Going to the ncaa puts them against older guys in the 20-23 age range, which is then a challenge for them. While the NCAA has a much larger following and players will now get paid. I do wonder what it does for the CHL to lose their best players every year. It honestly happens anyways, the best CHLer's usually make the NHL.
I believe the CHL still produces the most NHLers. For the best players it's a very small bridge to the next levels to go from CHL to NCAA. Players that come out of the NCAA don't seem to be more prepared than the same level of talent coming out of the CHL.My initial thought was that the chl would ultimately become a younger league, losing most of the players going into their draft +2 year. I have been in the camp that the chl has too many games when you factor in the PO as well. Even if your team wins the frozen 4, max games is like 45 or something.
Need to balance out between games and practice at their ages.

I've seen quite a few of the undrafted 20 year old CHL players going to college. That makes sense for them, continue playing at a higher level and continue their education as well. That doesn't hurt the CHL though as those players would have timed out.Very, very few players are going to go NCAA in their draft+2.
It means that they have to delay signing an ELC (something that agents/players have really been pushing forward in the past few years), that they don't get the signing bonus from that ELC, that they miss out on rookie/prospect camps and NHL preseason games and AHL late-season games. And can't make an NHL roster.
Lindstrom is a weird case because of his injury. Misa I suspect whoever drafts him will push back against going the NCAA route because they'll want their top-3 pick in the draft at camp working with their coaches.
These players aren't real prospects though, it's great for the average joe major junior player because they get to maximize the benefits of their career.I've seen quite a few of the undrafted 20 year old CHL players going to college. Some of these kids are playing 25 minutes a night in the CHL. NCAA forwards are playing 20 a night.
Now that players can go from the CHL to the NCAA. You've got wonder how many American or Europeans now come up to the CHL over the USHL. Play two years and then off to the NCAA. It probably hurts tier 2 jr in Canada the most.
